Chung Ju-Yung founded the Hyundai Engineering
and Construction Company in 1947
The company's first model, the Cortina, was released
in cooperation with Ford Motor Company in 1968.

Company in 1982
•He has contributed to the organization by
serving in different departments including the
Overseas Engineering Department and Body

HMIL is the largest passenger car exporter.
The second largest car manufacturer in India.
It currently has ten car models across segments -
Eon, Santro, i10, Grand i10, i20, Xcent, Verna,
Elantra, Sonata and Santa Fe.
5. Hyundai vehicles are sold in 193 countries through
some 6,000 dealerships.
In Ulsan, South Korea, which has an annual
production capacity of 1.6 million units
6. Exports
Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) is the country’s
largest passenger car exporter.
HMIL began exporting cars in 1999 when it shipped
a batch of 20 Santro’s to Nepal.
It reached the first milestone of exporting 100,000
cars in four years and ten months in October, 2004.
Market share of 48% of the total exports of passenger
cars from India.
They have celebrated 10 lac export car-roll-out at
Chennai port.
