Everyone has been placed in a situation when they must get results from others without being given the typical methods of exercising power. This slideshow begins to explore the methods by which one can influence and lead others without title or position that most consider the seat of power.
2. →
Influence is not about manipulation
→ Any attempt to manipulate based on selfish principles is doomed
to eventual failure.
Influence is the act of convincing another of a
mutually beneficial course of action.
This presentation is titled “Influencing Others
Without Power”. Despite the title there is one key
concept that must be grasped in order to understand
the necessary and fulfilling skill of influence….
3. The key to influence begins with the realization that
you have no power.
You are always asking someone to do something for you.
Parent
Child
Manager
Employee
Even in relationships of perceived power dynamics absolute power is a myth.
This power comes only from a high number of influence factors.
4. The best example of extreme influence through a servant’s attitude is that of a parent.
Other factors of influence are certainly present but a parent’s willingness to do anything
for their child builds and often unnoticed field of influence, not just for the child but for
observers as well.
A servant’s attitude is the first key to
successful influence
5. A servant’s
attitude is
comprised of two
parts: “A Willing
Heart” and
“Humility”.
Cultivating these
two attitudes will
develop a
Servant’s Attitude.

Humility

Welcome
6.
No Task Too Small
The most menial
task, done for someone
else, is a greater gesture
than the largest gift.
To a Willing Heart no task
is below them in serving
others.
The opportunity to serve
is never over.
Joy in Serving
Serving is not martyrdom
for those of a willing
heart.
Serving brings as much
joy to the giver as to the
receiver.
Enthusiasm in helping
others is the mark of a
Willing Heart.
7. All Are Welcome
None are excluded or
discriminated against
by those with a
Servant’s Attitude.
Respect is shown to
all, at all times.
The humble
recognize the value in
every person.

“You have no greater priority aside from respecting the people around you.”
-Vincent Ferraro
8. Increasing your influence begins with a
Servant’s Attitude:
Cultivate a Willing Heart and Humility in every aspect of
life in order to grow the aspects of a Servant’s Attitude.
Recognition that, no matter your status or title, you have
no power is the first step to true influence and stable
leadership.
Begin your journey with a Servant’s Attitude!
