Global survey shows securing remote workers and protecting cloud
deployments are some of the leading challenges for next two years.
Organizations’ biggest security chal-

employees working remotely was the
leading challenge, followed by pre-

Security priorities for the next two
years: The leading priorities through
to 2023 is securing remote working,
endpoint and mobile security, and se-

and email security.
2020’s shift in security strate-

the majority, their pandemic response

their business model.

WebSprix to Deploy Cisco
Routed Optical Networking
Solution with Cisco 8000
Ethiopia’s population of 115 million
makes it the second largest in Africa,
yet fewer than 270,000 people have
fixed broadband internet access. In
addition, many businesses are ready to
take advantage of high-speed internet,
but the infrastructure for widespread
adoption hasn’t been available.
Over the past decade, WebSprix has
been building the strong information
technology infrastructure critical for
Ethiopia to achieve robust economic
growth. This new solution will signifi-
cantly expand the reach and services
they provide.
The Cisco Routed Optical Network-
ing solution will converge the IP and
optical layers into a simpler, more op-
erationally efficient network, granting
streamlined planning, design, activa-
tion, troubleshooting, and manage-
ment. Reducing the number of devices
Cisco has announced that Web-
Sprix, an IT solutions and services
provider in Ethiopia, has select-
ed its Routed Optical Networking
solution set to launch in the first
half of 2021. The Cisco Routed
Optical Networking solution, part
of Cisco’s overall Converged SDN
Transport Architecture, will pro-

network cost and simplify manage-

took the Talent Accelerator, a survey of
2,000 knowledge workers and 500 HR
Directors in large, established corpora-
tions and mid-market businesses based
in the US conducted by Censuswide.
A few key findings as below:
Digital Nomads: Now, more than ever,
employees want flexibility in where,
when and how they work. In fact, 88
percent of those workers surveyed as
part of the Talent Accelerator said that
when searching for a new position,
they would look for one that offers
complete flexibility in their hours and
location. And 76 percent believe that
employees will be more likely to pri-
oritize lifestyle over proximity to work,
Citrix Uncovers What

even if it means taking a pay cut.
Virtual Reality: While the pandemic
and the remote work mandates asso-
ciated with it have physically separat-
ed workers, technology is proving its
worth and keeping them connected,
engaged and productive. As the Talent
Accelerator discovered that 89 percent
of employees believe that technology
makes workers within their organiza-
tion more productive. 86 percent of
employees and 69 percent of HR di-
rectors report that business leaders in
their organization are using technology
to collaborate effectively and innovate.
Outcomes over Output: In the future,
companies will need to rethink how
they measure productivity because
traditional metrics – and views that
real work can’t get done outside the
office - will no longer cut it. Accord-
ing to the Talent Accelerator, modern
employees want to be measured on the
value they deliver, not the volume. And
they expect to be given the space and
trust they need to do their very best
work, wherever they happen to be.
Latest research shows flexibility, agility, diversity and a superior
experience will be key to attracting and retaining talent.
Accordingtothe latestresearch from Ci-

models, digital technology, diversity
and inclusion and learning and devel-
opment will drive the future of work.
And they will seek opportunities with
companies that share their vision and
give them the space and tools they need
to succeed and advance their careers.
Tim Minahan, Executive Vice Pres-
ident of Strategy, Citrix, said, “The

and if businesses want to attract and
retain the talent they need to move for-
ward tomorrow, they must understand

internet access, IPTV, and voice ser-

tical Networking solution with the
8000 series routers will enable Web-
Sprix to offer these services at a low

customer service.
Websprix’s Cisco Routed Optical

lize the Cisco 8200 series routers with
400 GbE ZR/ZR+ coherent optics to
build a high-speed network back-

required building and managing a
separate optical network. The ZR/
ZR+ optics will allow long distance
fiber connections to terminate di-
rectly on the router without the need
for a separate optical layer or a sacri-

Bill Gartner, Senior Vice President and

Tableau Software has announced the
general availability of Tableau 2020.4,
which simplifies enterprise-wide data
preparation and analysis by bringing
the full suite of Tableau Prep capa-

addition lowers deployment costs
across the organization, while sim-

ability to add unlimited spatial layers
to maps, a Resource Monitoring Tool

additional native data connectors.
“Tableau Prep has taken the tedious
task of data preparation and made it
accessible to anyone by making it easy,

proactively monitor and troubleshoot
the health of their deployments, with
deep visibility into both hardware and
software performance. Previously only
available on Windows-based deploy-
ments, the RMT on Linux can help
customers to identify issues causing
slow load times, extract failures, and
other critical issues that can impact
the experience for end users.
• Cloud Tiering for Objects Stor-
age: Nutanix Objects can now
deliver tiering of object data to
an S3-compatible object store,
including cloud storage such as
AWS S3. This helps enable cus-
tomers to lower the cost of long-
term storage and archival by
taking advantage of public cloud
infrastructure. This new intelli-
gent tiering capability will also
significantly improve data lifecy-
cle management across different
clouds, while still maintaining
visibility and control, as metadata
is retained on-premises for easier
search and retrieval. Customers
can use any S3-compatible target
as a tier to Nutanix Objects.
• Hybrid Cloud File Storage: Nuta-
nix Files is now generally available
to run in public clouds through Nu-
tanix Clusters. A true hybrid cloud
file storage solution, Nutanix Files
now delivers a unified experience,
along with simplified single-pane
management, across cloud deploy-
ment modes, spanning the edge, re-
mote offices, and core data centers,
and public cloud. This provides cus-
tomers with the flexibility to choose
the right cloud, offer easy scalabil-
ity, and deliver more control over
hybrid cloud file storage.
•
Simplified Disaster Recovery:
Nutanix Objects and Files now
deliver improved recovery point
objective (RPO) ensuring data is
always available across datacenters
and clouds in the event of a disas-
ter. Objects now provide streaming
replication, with an RPO of just a
few seconds, particularly helpful
for containerized workloads that
can use S3 endpoints for primary
storage. This allows enterprises to
containerize their mission-critical
stateful applications, and ensure
business continuity even in the
most strenuous of circumstances.
All features are currently available
to customers.
data management and effectively man-
age costs - moving IT teams ever closer
to a true hybrid cloud operating model.
“IT teams around the world are quick-
ly moving to hybrid environments and
they’re looking for technology solu-
tions to help them facilitate this tran-
sition, to help them manage disparate
technologies and simplify operations,”
said Rajiv Mirani, Chief Technolo-
gy Officer at Nutanix. “We recently
extended our hyperconverged infra-
structure software to public cloud with
the launch of Nutanix Clusters to help
companies do just that. Now the focus
is on strengthening the overall plat-
form, including delivering an easy-
to-use, scale out storage fabric across
their different cloud environments.”
Specifically, the new features offer cus-
tomers the following:
Hybrid and multicloud leader delivers Object and File
storage solutions to edge, private and public clouds.
Prep Builder in the browser simplifies enterprise and cloud deployments; other features
include Resource Monitoring Tool for Linux, enhanced spatial analytics capabilities.
Nutanix has announced new hybrid
cloud capabilities for its unstructured
data storage offerings, Objects and Files.
With these advanced features, Nutanix
customers can now deploy an easy-to-
use, scale out storage fabric across their
different cloud environments to simplify
