2. CONVERSATION DYNAMICS
• Conversation is an informal interchange of thoughts and
information by spoken words.
• Live conversation is a spontaneous creation and has a
dynamism which no writer can duplicate.

4. FEATURES OF ENGLISH
• 1. The speakers use contractions
• 2. So-called learned words appear occasionally

5. STANDARD VS NON-STANDARD LANGUAGE
• Standard Formal English – The English most often used in
diplomatic correspondence, certain literary works, newspapers,
business letters and speeches. It is characterized by a large
vocabulary containing learned words.
• Standard Informal English – The English most often used in
conversations and personal letters.
• Non-standard English – Varieties of English that are limited to
certain groups of people.
