A. Reviewing previous lesson or
presenting the new lesson
The learners will be asked to accomplish a
KWL chart to (re)activate their schemata
about media literacy:
Students recap the lesson and activities from the last
session.
Class reviews presentations from the last session.
Class discusses what they have learned from the
presentations
The student will differentiate the Media Literacy
and Information Literacy using Venn Diagram.
B. Establishing a purpose for the
lesson
The learners will be directed towards the aim of the
lesson – to describe how communication is affected by
media and information.
Inform the learners that today’s topic exemplifies
essential knowledge that should allow users to engage
with media and information channels in a meaningful
manner.

2. C. Presenting examples/ instances
of the new lesson
Establishing a niche in the lesson is necessary. As
such, the first thing that learners should answer these
questions:
1. What is human sexuality?
2. How is a girl different from a boy?
3. Describe the present male and female
teenagers?
4. Where can you information about the
physical, emotional, psychological, mental,
and spiritual development of the human
being?
Connect the aim of the question given by defining the
word Communication and then the word Media.
Direct the learners to think of the past week, and record
their use and interaction with media and information
providers (such as internet, social media, TV, radio,
newspaper, etc.). Have them indicate how many hours
were spent engaged with each one. Remind them that
these do not have to be exact, and they can estimate
the number of hours they spend each week. Allot 5
minutes for this activity.

Activity 1: (Whole class) Answer the following questions:
1. Why the post officemail is called “snail mail”?
2. What are the physical objects used to
communicate?
3. What is the role of the internet in
communication?
4. Compare the media thirty years ago with the
media at present?
5. Why is media literacy important?
Instruct the learners toprepare a report by answering
the following questions:
1. Which media provider did they spend the
most time?
2. What roles does media play in their lives?
(leisure, learning, communication, etc.)
Editorialize the value of being a media and
information literate individual.
What activities/habits do you practice which
illustrate media and information literacy? Give
at least three examples.
F. Developing Mastery (Leads to
formative assessment3)
The learners should be able to complete the Frayer Model
to further expound the following words: information
literacy, media literacy, technology literacy and media and
information literacy.
Ask the learners to imagine waking up one day to find
no Internet, libraries, and cell phones. Newspapers,
magazines, radio stations and TV
Share to class their media lifestyle, habits, and
preferences.
Remind the learners that they are living in the
21st
Century, where people are dependent on
technology.
G. Finding practical applications of
concepts and skills in daily living
The learners should be able to answer the following
question:
How will you use your gained knowledge and
skills in media and information literacy in your
school, workplace and community?
Call on learners to answer the following
questions:
1. How would you be informed of anything
now?
2. What ways would you have to communicate
with one another?
3. How would you share information and
communicate news and events?
4. What would happen with the decisions you
usually make?
5. How would it affect the way you live?
6. What would you personally miss most in
such a situation.
Group Activity:
Each group can work on a topic as follows:
1. Latest gadgets in communication.
2. In demand courses in college that have great
employment opportunities
3. 10 Colleges and Universities that offer quality
of Education
4. Falling in love and getting into a relationship.
5. Handling oneself in success and failure.
1. Divide the learners into groups of five
(5) members in a group.
2. Assign one (1) term of the following
terms to each group:
a. Technology Literacy
b. Media Literacy
c. Information Literacy
d. Media and Information Literacy
3. H. Making generalizations and
abstractions about the lesson
For the generalization, the learners should be able to
come up with a word cloud for media and information
literacy.
Divide the class into groups ang each group will present
how particular medium of communication is used.
Call learners to present the assigned topic to their class Have each group formulate their own definition
of the term assigned to them, and have each
group present to the class.
I. Evaluating learning Ten item quiz will be administered to the learners.

Engage the learners in a class discussion by asking the
following questions:
1. In your opinion, what makes an individual
literate in media and information?
2. What activities/habits do you practice which
illustrate media and information literacy?
Give at least three examples.
Essay questions will be administered to the learners. Ten item quiz will be administered to the
learners using Plickers.
