2. Actress
We decided to choose Caleah, who is a member of our group.
Reasons for this:
● She fits our target demographic, which we acquired from our
target Audience survey.
● She has a similar clothing style to the original artist, which is an
element we wanted to include. She already has the clothes for
the costume, which will save us time.
● She already has experience acting in a music video, as she was
the main actresses for a GCSE music video, and the person she
was working with said she was a reliable and understanding.
3. Location
We have two main locations, we didn’t want to have too
many location changes as it would cost us time and
money to travel to and from them. The first is main
location is a small bar, called the Tropic. The bar hosts
small gig, which draws in a small but active crowd.
However depending on who is performing the crowd can
variety, Luckily Caleah works there and we were able to
find a date and performer who would draw a crowd we
were looking for.
This is ideal as we need shots a ‘party scene’, and this is
the most convenient and realistic way to get these
scenes. We know if we tried to do ourselves, it would be
inconvenient trying to get everyone together, and to
create a realistic scene.
4. The second main location is a kitchen. The main reason we picked this
location is out of convenience, as we are not limited by when we can film
due to distance or timing. The reason we picked this kitchen is because
the walls are painted one block contrasting colour ,orange, and for one of
the effects we need the actresses to have a contrasting background
colour, so we can cleanly create this effect without it overlapping and
looking unprofessional. This location ,compared to the other location, is
much more quiet and empty which will help us create the effect of the
actressing feeling disassociated with reality. Because of the location of
the kitchen external lighting can easier be cut off, allowing us to
manipulate it.
5. Makeup and clothing
Makeup wise we wanted our artist to
have a similar look to the original artist.
We wanted to keep it simple but also
edgy to fit the theme of the music and
music video. Clothing wise was also
wanted to keep it simple, like the real
artist, with our artist wearing leather
jacket, white t-shirt, black jeans and Doc
martins. One of the reason we want to
keep to so simple is so it is easy for
Caleah to get ready as she already has
the clothes and makeup skills, but also
due to the fact we don’t have the budget
to have high end costumes and
makeup. As we want to connate the
artist is struggling with a drug addiction,
instead of showing drugs we are going
to show signs of drug use, like track
marks,dilated pupils and nose bleeds.
6. Lighting
We are going to have mainly low key lighting, to connate how the artist
is struggling. In the Tropic, the lighting is not in our control, however
the strobe light effect will fit will our theme of drugs. However the
lighting in the kitchen will be in our control,and we want to use bright
lights, as they are typically associated with drugs. To produce this
effect we will use a flood light, and film in LOG, so during post
production we can use a color correction tool, which will allow us to
manipulate the lighting the way we want. We want to create a

As we want to connate that the artist
is struggling with a drug addiction,
we are not going to explicitly show
the artist using drugs. However we
are going to show sign of drugs use
through empty packets, bottles of
alcohol,lighters and a nose bleed
scene.
