2. ORGANIZING YOUR SPEECH
CONCLUSION
The conclusion should be short and to the point.
BODY
That is where the speaker’s message is presented.
INTRODUCTION
Should capture the attention of audience, give them a reason for listening
, and clearly state the central idea of speech.

3. PLANNING THE BODY
There are four steps to follow as you plan the body of
your speech:
1. Decide the main points.
2. Write your main points as complete sentences
3. Arrange central idea and main points
4. Add appropriate supporting material

4. 1. Decide on Main Points
• The central idea you have chosen should
determine the main point you select.
• Choose a single focused message rather than
trying to cover multiple topics.

5. • It will help you in determining whether they
reinforce or clarify your central ideas
effectively and whether they cover your
subject adequately.
• Each main point should be stated clearly and
succinctly

7. 3. Arrange Central Idea and Main Points
1. Chronological order
• You relate a series of incidents or explain a process or step –
from first to the last
2. General to specific
• The central idea usually given in the introduction and the
main points is in a general statement.

8. 3. Topical
• A pattern of arrangement is suggested by the topic itself.
4. Spatial
• a subject might fall quite naturally into spatial arrangement.
5. Cause and Effect
• This way is most often used for persuasive speeches. From cause to an
effect ( advantages or disadvantages ).
6. Problem – Solution
• Begins with an introduction that states a problem as central idea and the
solutions of the problems at the body.
7. Motivated sequence
• A persuasive speaking and help audience to get enthused about the
advantages of that solution.

9. 4. Add Appropriate Supporting Material
Supporting materials
Are necessary for clarifying or proving the
points you make in the body of your
speech.
It is the quality and relevancy of the
supports you choose that make your ideas
clear, interesting, and acceptable to your
audience.

Use Enumerative Signposts
• “Our Nuclear buildup isn’t defense. Our Nuclear

Repeat Key Words
• “This Concludes the discussion of step 2, stripping.
Next we will consider step 3, standing.”
Conclude your discussion
• “Now we have finished our discussion of step 3,
standing, we are ready to move on to step 4,
refinishing.”
