2. Founded in 2007 in Denver, Smashburger now
has more than 200 locations around the United
States. Last year, Smashburger opened its first
Jersey Shore franchise in Brick. In October
2014, the chain will open a second area
restaurant in Neptune on Route 66 near the
Asbury Park Circle, followed by a third in Toms
River. Smashburger has a contract to open six
more franchises, in Monmouth and Ocean
Counties, although their exact locations have
not yet been disclosed. All nine branches
should be operational by 2017.

looks forward to the upcoming Smashburger opening and
affirms its viability in the community.
Smashburger has become one of the fastest-growing fast-casual
restaurants in the nation. From 2012 to 2013, the
chain grew its total number of restaurants by 29 percent.
During the same period, total sales increased by 32
percent. The restaurant serves a "better burger" made
from 100 percent certified Angus beef topped with
premium, fresh toppings. The restaurant has also earned
accolades for its efforts to team with local microbreweries
and offer pairings with its various menu burgers.
