cysts, a distended
gallbladder and fluid-
filled segments of
the gastrointestinal or
urinary tract.
The identification of
venous blood flow by
Doppler examination
confirms the
diagnosis.

5. A hypothesis for the
cause of this
uncommon
dilatation of
the umbilical vein is
an intrinsic
weakness of the wall
of Extra-hepatic
portion of umbilical
vein , possibly at the
site where the right
umbilical vein
normally obliterates
during the
embryogenesis.

6. These lesions require
follow-up in order to
exclude or diagnose the
signs of hemodynamic
deterioration or cardiac
failure.The transient
appearance of signs of
heart failure like
Cardiomegaly and hydrops
suggest that the intra-
abdominal umbilical vein
dilatation could cause an
increase in cardiac work,
possibly by increasing
preload, which can lead to
cardiac failure.
