13. You are the ONE of Littering too
On average
we Phnom Penh ites
each produce
1.2kg
of trash per day.
About 75% of it is organic – food waste – but the rest is
plastic bags, wrappers, cans, bottles, papers & cigarette
butts.
Around 1kg is collected but the rest stays in the streets,
around our homes &offices
in public parks & in our river.
14. Every Household has Rubbish
We litter where we feel no sense of ownership.
(it's not my street/home so who cares)
We litter where litter has already accumulated.
(one extra bit won't make a difference)
15. In addition to the rubbish we dump,
a proportion of our personal trash is litter
we drop on the street, on the floor,
in the river.
About 85% of littering is the result of
individual attitudes.
Changing individual
behavior is key to
preventing litter.

Why should you join?Cambodia was voted #1 Friendliest Country by Rough Guide readers in 2012.A huge honour!
Could we be voted the #1 Cleanliest country? We have some work to do but there are things we can all do to create a cleaner/greener Cambodia
Garbage dumps are not sustainable; burning puts harmful pollutants in the air
Flooding is obviously a major problem in PP during rainy season. Some of it is due to clogged drain pipes due to loose garbage flowing into them.
The garbage that falls into the drain pipes will eventually make its way to our rivers and oceans.
Our trash is very dangerous for sea life but also …
the food that we eat from the sea.

If you can’t RRR, someone else may be able too. Separating your garbage ensures more garbage can be recycled during trash collection. This is the future of Cambodia. Most citizens in developed countries are already sorting their trash before it hits the street for trash collection.
