A MAN WHOSE DREAM WILL NOT LET US SLEEP
MESSAGE BY RAJENDRA SHENDE, CHAIRMAN TERRE POLICY CENTRE
Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen
Abdul Kalam, a boy from an
island off Tamil Nadu, not far
from where three oceans of
Indian peninsula merge, later
became Dr. A.P.J Kalam, a
visionary scientist, the President
of India but more popularly
known as - the ‘President of Peo-
ple,’ before he left us for ever.
A vast spring of powerful
dreams, a radiating stream of
adventures to steer those dreams
into reality and an ocean of
unprecedented ener-
gy to accomplish
the formidable
tasks, these three
reservoirsmerged
in one personal-
ity, who wanted
to be remembered
first as teacher,
second as a teacher
and last as teacher.
Yes, he drafted India’s flag-
ship nuclear programme but
more than that he crafted the
India’s nucleus of vision for the
future. Yes, he master minded
India’s first satellite launch vehicle,
but more than that he hurled India’s
first ever energy - vehicle of youth
to leap into aspirational space of
sustainable development. Yes, he
was India’s ‘missile-man’ but more
than that he was ‘man of masses’
who reminded us all the time that
dream is not what you get when
you sleep but it is that which does
not let you sleep.
Whenever I met him, it was like
an IIT-classroom for me.
I was in front of the
towering teacher who
gave human face
to everything that
he preached and
doggedly practiced.
He left us while
doing exactly that.
He died while counsel-
ing the students. It was a
life-long message for me, ‘ pur-
sue with determination what you
believeandlikethemost,tillthelast
moment, last breathe and last
beat’. I certainly would like to
share that message with you.
All birds find shelter during a rain.
But Eagles avoid rain by flying
above the cloud.
Problems are common, but attitude
make the difference.
Eagle have avoided the rains and
went beyond cloud.

RENDEZVOUS
NEPAL EARTHQUAKE : TWO MIRACLES
ON THE WAY TO THE EVEREST
TREE PLANTATION OF
TERRE TEAM
ON SINHGAD AND
AT WARJE HILL
A few minutes ago every tree was excited,
bowing to the roaring storm, waving, swirling,
tossing their branches in glorious enthusiasm like
worship. But though to the outer ear these trees
are now silent, their songs never cease
“ John Muir
“What doesn’t kill you makes
you stronger.” The proverb was
proved with the extreme motiva-
tive & jaw dropping experiences
at the event of Rendezvous by an
eyewitness of Nepal earthquake,
Mr. Bhushan Joshi. The audi-
ence, present at the session, was
thrilled after hearing the shocking
experiences by Mr. Joshi, A
mountaineer who was on the
expedition of Everest during
Nepal earthquake. On the event
of Rendezvous, an interactive
session organized by TERRE
Policy Centre, the speaker
shared his experiences with the
enthusiastic audience. The event
was organized on 17th July 2015
at Indradhanushya Paryavaran
Kendra, Pune.
As a mountaineer, Mr. Joshi
told his experience at the site with
different kinds of people who
taught the lesson not to give up
at any cost. Though getting an
opportunity to get escaped
from the tragic zone, group
With the great zeal among
youth of TERRE team with
Garware-Wall ropes ltd., 100 trees
were planted on the open space
at the top of Sinhgad fort near
Pune. On the fresh morning of
Sunday, Garware-Wall ropes’s vice
president Mr. Rajendra
Shivraikar with his 100 youth
members was present on the
event accompanied by TERRE
Policy Centre President Dr.
Vinitaa Apte with her team. The
plants will be regularly taken care
by the organization.
Also on 26th July at Warje
hill at Smritivan (A forest of
memories), Pune around 50
medicinal plants were planted by
Rotary club members. That is a
part of the different theme parks
which to be developed on the hill
under Smritivan scheme. TERRE

occasion with the president Dr.
Vinitaa Apte.
leader Mr. Joshi stick to the place
helping his teammates. “The
moment of avalanche came when
I & my teammates were buried
below the snow for some time.
Those 3 minutes were literally heart
breaking. Remote probabilities got
us in the most remote and danger-
ous places in the world at the worst
time of earthquake. Same weird
probabilities kept us 200 meters
from huge devastation and deaths
at the basecamp. Not everyone
had probabilities on their favor.
All 24 trekkers in the team got out
safely with minor bruises. It was
closest to death so far.” Revealing
the miracle, Mr. Joshi unveiled his
experiences with the people he met
including IAF officials, Foreigners,
local people.
At the end of the session,
Mr. Joshi cleared many doubts,
questions of the audience and guide
them. Mr. Joshi was honored by
President of TERRE Policy Centre

NEWSLETERRE Issue 8 | August 2015 www.terrepolicycentre.com|info@terrepolicycentre.com A MAN WHOSE DREAM WILL NOT LET US SLEEP MESSAGE BY RAJENDRA SHENDE, CHAIRMAN TERRE POLICY CENTRE Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam, a boy from an island off Tamil Nadu, not far from where three oceans of Indian peninsula merge, later became Dr. A.P.J Kalam, a visionary scientist, the President of India but more popularly known as - the ‘President of Peo- ple,’ before he left us for ever. A vast spring of powerful dreams, a radiating stream of adventures to steer those dreams into reality and an ocean of unprecedented ener- gy to accomplish the formidable tasks, these three reservoirsmerged in one personal- ity, who wanted to be remembered first as teacher, second as a teacher and last as teacher. Yes, he drafted India’s flag- ship nuclear programme but more than that he crafted the India’s nucleus of vision for the future. Yes, he master minded India’s first satellite launch vehicle, but more than that he hurled India’s first ever energy - vehicle of youth to leap into aspirational space of sustainable development. Yes, he was India’s ‘missile-man’ but more than that he was ‘man of masses’ who reminded us all the time that dream is not what you get when you sleep but it is that which does not let you sleep. Whenever I met him, it was like an IIT-classroom for me. I was in front of the towering teacher who gave human face to everything that he preached and doggedly practiced. He left us while doing exactly that. He died while counsel- ing the students. It was a life-long message for me, ‘ pur- sue with determination what you believeandlikethemost, tillthelast moment, last breathe and last beat’. I certainly would like to share that message with you. All birds find shelter during a rain. But Eagles avoid rain by flying above the cloud. Problems are common, but attitude make the difference. Eagle have avoided the rains and went beyond cloud.
