3. SUPER BOWL XLVII
The 47th edition of the Super Bowl game is being held
in New Orleans at the Mercedes Benz Superdome, on
Sunday February 3, 2013.
This is the first time that New Orleans has hosted the
big game since 2002, and the first time since Hurricane
Katrina destroyed parts of the stadium. The stadium
has undergone an $85 million renovation, and the city
is poised for a week of fun and excitement.
4. CHAMPIONS
LEAGUE SOCCER
FINALS
From May 24th to 26th, soccer fans will be able to sink
their teeth into some serious, world-class action with
the Champions League Finals.
In 2013, the finals are being held at Wembley Stadium
in London. It is the second time in three years that the
Finals are being held at Wembley, and more than 300
million viewers from around the world are expected to
take in the event.
5. WIMBLEDON
As always, the classic Wimbledon tennis
tournament will be held on the grass courts of the
All England Lawn and Tennis Club in London in
2013.
The 2013 version of the tournament runs from
June 24th to July 7th, and is sure to include some
of the most exciting matches of the year.
6. FRENCH OPEN
The French Open will be held on the red clay
courts of Roland Garros in Paris in 2013, as
always. The tournament runs from May 26th to
June 9th, and would make a great road trip to
experience France in the spring, along with world-
class tennis.
7. THE MASTERS
The Masters is a golf tournament held in Augusta,
Georgia each year at the Augusta National Golf
Club. Along with the prize money, the winner of
the tournament gets the coveted ‘green jacket’.
In 2013, the Masters runs from April 8th to the
15th.
8. THE BRITISH OPEN
The British Open was first held in 1860 at the
Prestwick Golf Club in Scotland, and is the oldest
‘Major’ tournament. The venue for the British
Open changes each year, and in 2013, it is being
held at the Muirfield Golf Club in Edinburgh,
Scotland.
The 2013 British Open runs from July 18th to the
22nd.
9. BASEBALL ALL-
STAR GAME
The All-Star game is always an exciting event, and
in 2013, the location of Citi Field in New York City
will make it even more exciting.
The game is being held on July 16th, and is the
84th edition, including features such as the
Futures Game and the famous Homerun Derby.
10. KENTUCKY DERBY
The first jewel of the Triple Crown and most
famous horse race of them all is being held at
Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky on
Saturday, May 4th in 2013.
11. ITALIAN GRAND
PRIX
Also known as the Gran Premio d’Italia, the Italian
Grand Prix is a Formula One auto race that’s held
at the Monza Circuit near Milan. In 2013, the
festivities run from September 6th to the 9th.
12. MONACO GRAND
PRIX
The Monaco Grand Prix is held in Monte Carlo
each year, and in 2013 the event runs from may
24th to the 27th. Bring a camera if you make a trip
of it, because celebrities are often a common sight.
13. WORLD TRACK &
FIELD
CHAMPIONSHIPS
In 2013, the 14th edition of the World Track & Field
Championships truly are being held in Moscow. The
event runs from August 10th to the 18th, and includes:
