- 7. Library contains all of your media. Music, Movies, TV shows, Books and Radio Store contains the iTunes store, where you can buy music, movies or books and TV shows. This section also contains Ping, an iTunes social network. Genius is a feature that uses your music library to automatically generate playlists and recommendations for your musical style Playlists is the last section, any playlist you have created will land here.

The Artist is Correct The Song Titles are Correct The Date and Year are Correct The information has automatically popped up because you are connected to the internet… If this information is not present you must fill it in before you import the disc, because after you import a CD you cannot change the song names or artist in iTunes easily… So do it before hand!

- Welcome to Itunes. Presented by the Gig… Geneva information gateway.
- To open itunes look for this icon on your desktop or, go to your start menu and look for a folder labled itunes.
- You will most likely see this hour glass appear when iTunes first loads!
- When you open up iTunes it will look similar to the one I have pictured here. Let’s talk very quickly about where some of the tools for ITunes are and what they do. First lets take a look at the top left.
- If you are connected to the internet the iTunes store may open automatically depending on your settings. If the iTunes store opens up automatically your screen may look like similar to this, but probably with other artists and movies of the day.
- The main controls for navigation are at the top of the page. The file menu contains most of your usual features. Rewind and fast-forward are up top as is the play button, which is also the pause button. You can also access the program volume, see what is playing and access the iTunes store form this navigation bar.
- Below your main controls of play and pause you also have a side bar. This side bar tells you where you are within ITunes from your music collection to your book collection. You can navigate to all of your different media types right from this side bar. Your Library contains all of your media. Which ever section is highlighted in blue is the section you are currently in.
- Once you choose some media to play whether it is music or video based the title and the artist will appear in the top box and will look like this. The title will appear above the artist. This section will also give you the entire length of the media and show you where you are within that length as well as tell you how much time is left.
- To get to the different iTunes views you can simply use the buttons on the top tool bar to change the way it looks. I will show you the different views now so you know what they are, and so you don’t get too worried if you open up your iTunes and it doesn’t always look exactly the same. The first view is the view we have seen already this is a list view.
- This is the List view. It will list the name of the song first then the artist, then the album.
- The bulleted list view shows you the album name first then the song name then the album artist.
- The Icon view goes in alphabetical order acording to the artist it will display the album covers if the pictures are loaded.
- The album cover view will start alpahbetically as well it will display your album covers, the user navigates horizontally rather than vertically to find their desired track.
- Whenever you would like to add a CD to iTunes, it is called importing media. Today you each have a CD in front of you as well as a computer, we are going to practice importing the CD’s on to our program. The first thing you need to do is insert the CD. If iTunes is your default media program you will notice the program will automatically open and ask you if you would like to import the CD. If not you will have to click open with iTunes. Click yes to import the CD.
- Only import if…
- The device or CD will show up on the side bar as soon as it is recognized by iTunes.
- There is two really easy ways to tell when you are importing, the first is to look next to the tracks, they will have an orange orb with a wavy line through them, and when they are fully imported they turn green. You can also look at the bottom of your screen and the button that used to say import will now say stop importing.
- You can track your progess net tot the track names or in the bar above that shows the over all progress of the track you are on.
- Once your CD is done importing it will look like the screen above, all the tracks will have a green orb with a check next to them and our button will switch back to asking us if we would like to import.
- To edit track names simply right click on them and then on the menu that comes up hit Get Info.
- Once you click get info this menu will appear, for the most part the summary option will always pop up first. At the top of the menu are tabs, to change the track name simply click on the info tab.
- To change the track name simply get your cursor into the first box that says name and type away. You can also change the artist, album, name category and more.
- You can edit almost every aspect of your album and add your own comments. To navigate to the song all you have to do is click the next button, when you are finished you can click on ok, and whalla changed are all of your track names!
- If you would like to change all of your tracks you would simply highlight all of them, right click and hit get info. ITunes will tell you that you are about to edit all tracks. Only use this for editing Artist info, Year, track number, disc number, category, album name and description. Remember all tracks you edit in this mode will be the same.
- Only edit these fields in multiple track mode, do not edit song titles.
