1. WARMING UPS ACTIVITIES
Animal Pairs Game: - The teacher will write the names of animals on pieces of paper. There
will be two cards for each animal.
- S/he will distribute one card to each student and instruct him/her not
show the cards to anyone else.
- The students must move around the room, making the sound of the
animal written on the card in order to find his/her partner.
- Once theyfindtheirpartner,theywill sitdownquietly,andlastformed
pair of animals, will have to do a challenge
Pair Game:- Inadvance,the teacherwill write namesof famouspeople onpiecesof paper.The
names should each have a “match.”
- The teacherwill distribute the papersandinstructthe studentsnotto
show the paper to anyone
- Then,instructthe studentsto walkaroundthe roomtryingtofindtheir
“matches” without saying the name of the person. They may give a
description of who theyare (once they figure it out) or say a common
phrase.
Great wind blows: - The teacher has to arrange a circle of chairs in the middle of the room.
- Ask each student to sit in one of the chairs (have an exact number).
- Tell students that if they agree with your next statement, they should
stand up and move to another chair.
- Standinthe centerof the circle andsay:"My name is ___________ and
the great wind blows for everybodywho...." (Choose an ending that
wouldlikelyapplytonearlyeveryoneinthe class,suchas"likestoswim
in a pool."
- At thispoint,everyone wholikesto swimin a pool gets up and runsto
another empty chair. As the students move, make sure that you (the
teacher) occupyone of the emptyseats.If youdo,thenonestudent will
have no seat to occupy and will replace you in the center.
- Have the new person in the center finish the same incomplete
sentence.
- The activity lasts 3 minutes.
