MECHANICS
1. The contest is open to all young people, ages 12 to 15 years old, in or out of school, residing in
Metro Manila or the nearby regions.
2. Each contestant must show proof of his/her age, by showing birth certificate, and any one of
the following:
2.1 a valid school identification (ID) card, with photograph
2.2 any other ID card with photograph
If without a school ID, a barangay certification should be presented stating the age of the
contestant.
3. Qualified contestants must pre-register using the attached Pre-Registration Form, until April 19,
2007, 12 noon to any of the following contact details:

Only the first 100 contestants, on a first-come, first-served basis will be eligible to join the
contest.
4. The main theme of the contest is:
“Give Your Lungs a Chance: Clean the Air Now.”
5. All poster entries must include the aforementioned theme or a creative slogan related to the
above, in English.
6. The organizers will provide a drawing pad (roughly measuring 15” x 20”) for the contest.
Sheets of bond paper will be provided to the contestants for sketching or drafting. All other
materials must be brought by the individual contestant.
7. Materials allowed for poster-making to be brought and used by the individual contestants are:
- pencil - art paper - colored pencils
- crayons - construction paper - acrylic paints
- markers - glue/paste - pastel
- pens - scissors - oil paints
- ink - water color - poster color
- craypas
Individual contestants may also bring the following:
- drawing board, if you like, but not necessary
- umbrellas/raincoats/hats (in case of bad weather)
- fans, or any other personal items as needed
- floor mat, if desired
Computer-generated artworks are not allowed. Three dimensional mixed media will not be
allowed.

2. 8. All artworks must be done only on the spot, and must be completed within the allotted time of
two hours.
9. All entries will be pre-numbered. No signatures, names, or other identifying marks should
appear at either side of the material of the entry.
10. Criteria for judging shall be:
10.1 Creativity and presentation - 50%
10.2 Originality - 30%
10.3 Relevance to the theme - 20%
11. The entries shall be judged by a Board of Judges, composed of artists and experts on the
environment, and health concerns.
12. The decision of the Board of Judges shall be final and unappealable. Any administrative or
technical problems that may arise during the contest shall be resolved by the organizers,
whose decision, moreover, shall be final and unappealable.
13. The prizes, shall be:
First Prize - =P=5,000
Second Prize - =P=3,000
Third Prize - =P=2,000
and several consolation prizes.
14. Winning and other entries shall become the properties of the EMB-DENR, and may be used for
its continuing advocacy campaigns for clean air and good health.
15. Relatives of employees of the EMB-Central Office, up to the 1st level of consanguinity, shall be
ineligible to join.
16. The schedule of the contest shall be:

7:30 – 8:00 am - Registration
8:00 – 8:30 - Orientation on the Mechanics, and video showing
8:30 – 11:00 - Contest Proper
11:00 – 12:00 noon - Judging
12:00 – 12:30 pm - Announcement of Winners, and Awarding
A bell will sound off at 10:50 a.m. to allow contestants to allot the last 10 minutes to wind up
their art work.
17. Contestants shall be provided with morning snacks only. As such, they are advised to bring
their own lunch and extra drinks, as they may desire.
