3. According to the old Silesian Chronicle which was written in XIII
century , Kazimierz Odnowiciel came back to country , destroyed
heavily by Brzetysław ‘s the Czech prince Attacks and Pagan
Anarchy and stayed on Lednogóra Island.
5. Because Giecz, PoznaŃ and Gniezno were very destryed, Kazimierz
Odnowiciel (Casimir The Restorer) used the location of Lednogóra Island.
On the Island and in the near cities created branches of
knightood, warriors and armed people in order to attack Masław who
occupied more and more of Great Poland (Wielkopolska).
7. While staying od the island, he often prayed in a prince
chapel. He asked God and the Church patroness – Mother of
God for a victory over MasŁaw and finishing the war. He gave
to God his sword and diadem as a gift. Then, extremely
tired, fell asleep.
8. While sleeping he dreamt and heard a voice:” take
this crucifix and the sword, your branches of
knighthood, warriors and people and go to fight with
MasLaw at night.”
9. Waiting for the attack Masław’s warriors gave a huge
party:they were eating, singing and dancing and drank a lot
of wine…
10. At midnight they went to beds and soon fell asleep as they didn’t
expect the attack.
11. The dwellers of this village showed his prince the place
where masŁaw stayed – not far from KociaŁkowa Górka.
12. When it started to dawn, the branches of knighthood and warriors of
Kazimierz odnowiciel came to the camp. Because MasŁaw’s warriors
slept hard and didn’t expect the attack, they started to escape in
panic . onlySome of them were fighting.
13. There were killed and wounded on both sides but when prince
kazimierz Odnowiciel came with a crucifix in his hand his branches
of warriors started to win.
15. The victory in Kociałkowa Górka started the period of
predominance of kazimierz odnowiciel over masŁaw .
The year after the victory Kazimierz odnowiciel called the place
which dwellers helped him to find MasŁaw’s warriors - the name of
the city – Pobieda (in Russian language – Victory ).
