 Our National Agencies won’t upload the Final
Report until June. However, we should
consider now what we have to write.
 After watching the explanation of parts that
we have to submit, could you please send
me a list of the OUTCOMES (RESULTS &
PRODUCTS) from each country?
 Please discuss the interpretation of terms:
results, products, activities, etc.

All four work meetings are events

Lithuanian geologist Simonas
Saarmann Ph.D from the Dept. of
Geology & Mineralogy,Vilnius
University presented a series of
interactive lectures entitled
«Principles of Geology», «Shaping
the Earth» and «Geotourism» to all
participating partners.

The Polish school orgainised a
hands-on workshop for all
participating countries entitled
«In search of agates». It
involved a geological guided
walk, the search for agates and
the subsequent cutting and
polishing of the stones.

The Italian school organised an
excursion in loco to the
magnetite mines of Cogne.

PARTNERSHIP ACTIVITIES: DEFINITION
 This means a description of all activities carried
out locally and abroad to reach the results that
we outlined in E.2 (outcomes)
 e.g. What kind of preparatory activity was
organised with staff and students in order to
create a website, a magazine, a questionnaire,
an exhibition, etc.?
 What didactic activities were organised during
the project meetings?
 Tutoring of pupils by teachers from other
countries
 Collaboration between teachers and pupils
from different countries

PARTNERSHIP ACTIVITIES: EXAMPLES
 The Lithuanian school established a collaboration with the University
of Vilnius, whose member of staff, Dr. Saarmann, acted as
geological expert and advisor throughout the project. He prepared
didactic material and hands-on activities which can be re-used in
any teaching environment
 The Polish school made contact with an organiser and promoter of
geotourism, whose farm holidays include the searching for, cutting
and polishing of agates. The process was recorded by pupils so
they can explain it to peers.
 The Italian school (as well as most partners) organised an excursion
to a nearby mine, learned about methods of extraction,
interviewed a miner whose story showed what mining was like in
the past and researched the necessary facts
(accommodation/transport) in order to illustrate an itinerary of
economic geotourism in the area.

Italy will be responsible for these,
as I think they will be an excellent
outcome/product. There will be
at least one for each country. The
guide (PDF ) will contain a link to
the Wikiloc map, with indications
of cheap accommodation and
transport to the site, a didactic
description of rocks/minerals
found there with (preferably) a
work sheet that a geotourist could
complete. However, I need you
to complete the parts of the
Wikispace so I have all the
information.
 Earthcache lessons
Another excellent outcome!!
Italy has already submitted an
Earthcache lesson to the
Geological Society of America,
but hasn’t had a reply yet. If
another country wishes to do
so, there are guidelines in
many languages.
TASKS TO COMPLETE BEFORE 31/07/2015 and
delegation of tasks among partners
 Although the deadline is
September, I think it’s best
to submit our Final Reports
earlier, so that we can
remember everything we
did.
 Every partner has to look at
the Wikispace, at the drop-
down menu, and fill in the
parts that are missing. For
example, the page
dedicated to «geological
heritage» is incomplete.
Every school must add 2
rocks and 2 minerals, with a
brief description.
 I would like to ask each of
you to be responsible for
the completion of one or
two sections of the
Wikispace. I hope you
agree.
 It’s not necessary that
each partner contributes
to every section of the
project Wikispace, but it is
recommended that as
many activities and
outcomes as possible are
completed.

  • 4. Compilation of Final Report  Our National Agencies won’t upload the Final Report until June. However, we should consider now what we have to write.  After watching the explanation of parts that we have to submit, could you please send me a list of the OUTCOMES (RESULTS & PRODUCTS) from each country?  Please discuss the interpretation of terms: results, products, activities, etc.

Section E.2 OUTCOMES - RESULTS OUTCOMES = RESULTS + PRODUCTS RESULTS = EVENTS = seminars, workshops, local events, laboratories All four work meetings are events  e.g. of a seminar Lithuanian geologist Simonas Saarmann Ph.D from the Dept. of Geology & Mineralogy,Vilnius University presented a series of interactive lectures entitled «Principles of Geology», «Shaping the Earth» and «Geotourism» to all participating partners.  e.g. of a workshop The Polish school orgainised a hands-on workshop for all participating countries entitled «In search of agates». It involved a geological guided walk, the search for agates and the subsequent cutting and polishing of the stones.  e.g. of a local event The Italian school organised an excursion in loco to the magnetite mines of Cogne.

Section F2: PARTNERSHIP ACTIVITIES: DEFINITION  This means a description of all activities carried out locally and abroad to reach the results that we outlined in E.2 (outcomes)  e.g. What kind of preparatory activity was organised with staff and students in order to create a website, a magazine, a questionnaire, an exhibition, etc.?  What didactic activities were organised during the project meetings?  Tutoring of pupils by teachers from other countries  Collaboration between teachers and pupils from different countries

Section F.2 PARTNERSHIP ACTIVITIES: EXAMPLES  The Lithuanian school established a collaboration with the University of Vilnius, whose member of staff, Dr. Saarmann, acted as geological expert and advisor throughout the project. He prepared didactic material and hands-on activities which can be re-used in any teaching environment  The Polish school made contact with an organiser and promoter of geotourism, whose farm holidays include the searching for, cutting and polishing of agates. The process was recorded by pupils so they can explain it to peers.  The Italian school (as well as most partners) organised an excursion to a nearby mine, learned about methods of extraction, interviewed a miner whose story showed what mining was like in the past and researched the necessary facts (accommodation/transport) in order to illustrate an itinerary of economic geotourism in the area.

  • 12. Geotourism guides & Earthcache lessons  Geotourism guides/itineraries. Italy will be responsible for these, as I think they will be an excellent outcome/product. There will be at least one for each country. The guide (PDF ) will contain a link to the Wikiloc map, with indications of cheap accommodation and transport to the site, a didactic description of rocks/minerals found there with (preferably) a work sheet that a geotourist could complete. However, I need you to complete the parts of the Wikispace so I have all the information.  Earthcache lessons Another excellent outcome!! Italy has already submitted an Earthcache lesson to the Geological Society of America, but hasn’t had a reply yet. If another country wishes to do so, there are guidelines in many languages.

TASKS TO COMPLETE BEFORE 31/07/2015 and delegation of tasks among partners  Although the deadline is September, I think it’s best to submit our Final Reports earlier, so that we can remember everything we did.  Every partner has to look at the Wikispace, at the drop- down menu, and fill in the parts that are missing. For example, the page dedicated to «geological heritage» is incomplete. Every school must add 2 rocks and 2 minerals, with a brief description.  I would like to ask each of you to be responsible for the completion of one or two sections of the Wikispace. I hope you agree.  It’s not necessary that each partner contributes to every section of the project Wikispace, but it is recommended that as many activities and outcomes as possible are completed.

And any work sheets or teaching aids they used with the younger pupils?  Could you encourage some other partners to plan and film a similar lesson with another class in their school or a school nearby as a peer –teaching/ peer-learning experiment?

Violetta  Thanks for your great contributions to «Stones in cultural heritage» and above all your tracks and descriptions on «Geotourism and Wikiloc»  Requests Could you please make sure that every partner uploads at least one track with a description of its geological value, some information about cheap accomodation near and transport to the site, including prices? Partners who have already uploaded trails, please check that you have included transport & accommodation details and prices.

Ulfur  Thanks for the greatest project meeting experience!  Your country, albeit a bit cool, is a treasure chest of natural, awe- inspiring wonders!!  Request  Given that your students are talented and inventive, could you please ask them to update the section «A day in the life of…..» by asking all the pupils present at the meeting in France to pass on their material to upload to our project Wikispace.

If they have trouble with Wikiloc, can you give them a hand?  I think we need to have more examples of «monitoring». Pupils should do your aptitude test «Geology, ICT and Culture quiz» again so we can compare results with their initial attempts.  It’s necesary to have some feedback from colleagues and parents regarding their opinion of the impact of Comenius. I’ll prepare a «survey monkey» but it has to be translated into the local language.
  • 19. Marcel  Thanks for the language portfolio (excellent!!), the theatrical performance «Aqualata’s Legend» and your Catalan determination!  Could you please ensure that all partners complete the page on «geological heritage» with a description of 2 rocks and 2 minerals?
  • 20. Extra homework  Could each school that has hosted a project meeting (Lithuania, Poland, Iceland & France) please upload their itinerary or a brief description of what we saw and did to the work meeting section?  Did any school publish an article about the project meeting in Iceland? If so, please upload it to «Work meetings»  Please add your contributions to as many sections of the Wikispace as possible.

Extra tasks  Encourage all pupils to take Jan’s online aptitude test «Geology, ICT and culture quiz» https://testmoz.com/199968? logout=1#student  Translate the Survey Monkey questionnaire into your local language and ask colleagues and parents to answer questions, using the link on our Wikispace  Is any school planning to organise a Comenius / Erasmus+ day? Highly recommended for dissemination of the project.
