Game designers are responsible for designing all aspects of a game such as setting, storyline, levels, and characters. Level editors create the interactive architecture and physics within levels. Lead artists apply textures, graphics, and oversee the overall art style. Technical artists ensure graphics display properly without bugs. Animators create character and environment movements. Audio engineers develop soundtracks, effects, and voices. Lead programmers oversee all code and AI behaviors. Programmers write the code controlling the game. Project managers ensure on-time delivery. Quality assurance testers systematically play test for bugs and refinements. Product managers help implement marketing campaigns to maximize sales.

1. Unit 13 Job Roles
Creative Development;
Game Designer-
Game designers are responsible for what the game will consist
in the final product.
They design and create all components of a game such as the
setting, storyline, level design and character design.
Level Editor-
The Level Editor is the lead creator of the interactive
architecture within the game.
They are responsible for how the levels work e.g the physics
and the motions within a level.
By sticking to the storyline they must use their skills in changing
how the environment works around the story the character
goes on.

2. Lead Artist-
The Lead artist is responsible of the overall games art layout
and style, they apply the Textures and the graphics to the
scenery, terrain and architecture that the graphic designer and
Level Editor create.
Technical Artists-
Technical Artists are the employees between artists and
programmers, by making scripts being deployed look subtle and
ensure that there aren’t graphic bugs within the game.
Artist-
Artists create the visual elements of a game, such as characters,
scenery, objects, vehicles, surface textures, clothing, props, and
even user interface components.
They also create the story boards and concept art within the
game.

3. Animator-
Animators are responsible more the movements and behavior
of the AI’s, NPC’s and Characters, but can also add movement
into scenery making it seem more realistic.
Audio Engineer-
The Audio Engineer creates the games soundtrack, including
music, character sounds, interactions with the world, voices
and spoken instructions.
Technical Development
Lead Programmer-
The lead programmer is responsible for all scripts and code
when creating the game.
They program the AI’s in the game and are responsible for any
behaviors towards the character

4. Programmer-
Programmers work at the heart of the game development
process. They design and write the computer code that runs
and controls the game, incorporating and adapting any ready
made code libraries and writing custom code as needed
Product Implementation
Project Manager/Producer-
Project managers are responsible for the delivery times and
speeds the game gets to it’s purchasers addresses, controlling
all financial resources.
Assistant Producer-
The Assistant (or Junior) Producer works with a game's
production staff to ensure the timely delivery of the highest
quality project possible. Typically, they will focus on specific
areas of the development process.

5. External Producer-
As the job title suggest, the External Producer is responsible for
ensuring the successful delivery of a game, while working
externally from the development team.
Creative Director-
The Creative Director is the key person during the game
development process, overseeing any high level decisions that
affect how the game plays, looks or sounds.
Creative Directors are employed by development studios, both
publisher-owned and independent, but not all game companies
employ Creative Directors.

6. Quality Assurance-
QA tester-
Quality Assurance Technicians, or Testers, perform a vital role,
testing, tuning, debugging, and suggesting the detailed
refinements that ensure the quality and playability of the
finished game.
Their job involves play-testing the game in a systematic way,
analyzing the game’s performance against the designer’s
intentions, identifying problems and suggesting improvements.
Business Development-
Product (brand) Manager-
The Product Manager's role is to help create and implement
marketing campaigns to maximise the sales of the games they
are working on. Operating as a part of a marketing team, they
support the senior marketing managers who organise
international or global campaigns.
