Entering &
having a seat
Bring all needed material. Use a quiet voice to greet
classmates. Every session, seek to work with different
classmates. Please, be seated when the bell rings.
Homework
Have your homework on top of your desk when class begins.
If requested, discuss with your partner some difficulties or
differences in your answers. Be ready to share these points
with the class (HW discussion). Mistakes are most welcome!
If requested, pass your HW to be placed in the HW tray.
You have up to TWO academic days (M-F) to turn in. Points
will be deducted for each day it is late. After two days, the
assignment will not be accepted. Assignments will not be
accepted late if we went over them in class.
Right Now
Activity
When you enter class, look at the board under the
section “Ahora mismo” and follow the instructions
right away.
Classroom procedures
Exit Ticket
Towards the end of the class, you will be given a card or
small piece of paper to answer a question about main
ideas in our lesson. Fill it up to your best knowledge and
place it in the small box on you way out. This will give us
a chance to self-assess our learning process and help us
set up some goals.
Please, use bathrooms during recess or breaks. If you need to
use the bathroom during class, wait until instructions are
given. Quietly, fill out the “Using Bathroom Chart” (Name /
Time out). Go directly to the bathroom , return promptly and
fill out the “Time In” column. Resume working.
Using the
Bathroom

enter quietly, fill out the “Tardy Sheet” and attach your
tardy slip.
•Work in pairs
•Face your partner
•Take turns to speak
•Do not use English
•Help each other
•Use body language
•Negotiate meaning
•Arrange 4 chairs: each
couple facing each other
•Assign roles: (facilitator,
material manager, recorder,
time keeper)
•Encourage every member of
the group to participate.
•Sharing your group’s ideas
with the class. Feel free to
expand and help each other.
•Quickly go to the area
assigned for your group
number.
•Assign roles
•Begin role-play using body
language and drama
techniques (help each
other)
•Repeat it again
ROUTINES IN SPANISH
“En parejas” “En grupos” “Drama”
“Un minuto” “Mímica” “Ordenar
clase”
One minute activities (exit
ticket or writing activities),
where you will have a minute to
complete the task. You need to
do your best and it is okay if
you don’t fully complete the
task. That is part of what we
need to assess: how can we get
better in that topic/task..
After certain activities
or towards the end of
the class, students will
have to put in order
desks, materials and
clean the room.
•Stand up in a semi-circle
in front of the class.
•Round 1: Repeat and
mimic what teacher says
and do.
•Round 2: Teacher says, you
mimic. You can look at
your peers for some help.
•Round 3: Close your eyes.
Try to mimic what the
teacher says. If you don’t
know…”No hay
problema”…
•We’ll repeat again
“Presten
atención”
“Pasen los papeles” “La palabra del
día”
• At the end of certain
activities, teacher will
raise her hand,
requesting your
special attention.
• Please, in silence,
raise your hand as a
sign that you are
ready to pay
attention.
• In a few silent
seconds all students
should be, ready to
listen to what she has
to say.
• Pass papers to the
student closer to the
assignment tray as
fast as possible.
• We will practice a
system to have this
done in a few
seconds.
• In alphabetical order,
students will choose the
word of the day in every
lesson.
• The word should be a
new word that you believe
is particularly challenging
or that you need to learn.
•A few times during class
the teacher will say the
word and students will
have to repeat it with
their best Spanish
pronunciation.
