21. Disability & Homelessness Homeless? Moving from one person’s home to another with no place of one’s own. Living in a Nursing Home without any resources to move out. Living on the street or in a car. INTERESTING FACT: 43% of men who are homeless are disabled veterans. http://oldtimer.wordpress.com People with Disabilities are often a large percentage of those who are chronically homeless through no fault of their own

22. Some time ago Chris was homeless in Cedar City After a divorce Chris, who’d lost his leg in a vehicle accident, was forced to move from home to home depending on the generosity of friends. At times he even lived on the street.

23. Chris Continued: Insult to Injury These stays at friends were punctuated by long stays in Nursing Homes. Where he recovered from injuries sustained from living in places that did not accommodate for his disability.

24. Chris and Jordi,Red Rock Center’s Nursing Home Transition Coordinator Jordi met Chris while he was in a Nursing Home. She provided advocacy, resources and encouragement. Chris provided the enthusiasm and willingness to work to leave the Nursing Home. And….
