2. Style
The style of Batman is very similar to a lot of film
noir films, the lightings dark throughout the film
and matches film noirs lighting style with very few
lights in each set, the darkness adds a sense of fear
into the film.
Another way Batman has a similar style to film noir
is the mist and disorientating visual schemes used,
this is conventional of film noir because of the
cheap sets they needed to use, although this wasn’t
the case for the production of Batman its still an
effective method to use.
4. Narrative
Batman is about a character (Batman) stopping crime in
Gotham city, he comes up against a criminal
mastermind (the joker) and is put through his paces
when attempting to stop the Joker from carrying out
his plans, present n Batman is crime which also
matches with film noir, this is another strong match
between film noir and Batman.
5. Setting
Batman is a large, dark and criminalized city
called Gotham, being set in a city it reveals
another convention of film noir to build on its
neo noir genre. Its also set in confined spaces,
places people wish they were never in, this is a
convention of a action films, by mixing the two
genres together they have created a neo noir.
