INBOUND LOGISTICS
Volkswagen’s suppliers deliver all
parts inside the manufacturing plant.
All the materials are stored in
”Naves” that are big hubs.
All the deliveries are under Just
In Time(JIT) and are penalised if

Operations
The pressshop:
At Wolfsburg theplant processes around1,500metric tonnes
of sheet metal every day . Thesheet metal is cut and pre-
stamped into special plates, then they are fully galvanised.
The bodyshop:
It is next in the production process. Theyinvested in new, more
flexible technologies so the plant can react faster to different
demands. Various models can be built rightafter one another
on thesamelinewith no major modifications or delay.
The paintshop:
Achievesflawless results. After an intensive pre-treatment with all seams, folds and joints sealed, each car goes throughto have
sealants, colour and protective layersapplied.
The assemblyline:
Is whereengines and features are brought together in precise configurations. After assembly, rigorous measurements, final
adjustments and performancetests arecarried out to ensurethe quality our customers expect.
OPERATIONS OF VOLKSWAGEN
Outbound logistics:
Vehicle logistics plans and controls the transport
processes for all finished vehicles between the production
sites and importers around the world.
Ouraffiliate Auto Port controls the import and export terminal for all brands in this
port.
A special feature is that Volkswagen Group Logistics also operates cardrivers themselves.
Forthis distribution, they are concentrating onthe transport modes, lorries and seagoing
vessels in approximately 150 markets.
Marketing and sales
o They derivenewmeasures from surveyresults to achieve
even greatercustomer satisfaction.

service points worldwide with modern diagnostic systems and high-qualityspecialist

HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
Recruitment process
1. Step - Application
Look for positions that interest you in Volkswagen bookmark “Job offers”. Even if you do not
find anything interesting, feel free to complete our on-line CV form. Your application will be saved
to our database which is used by the company when looking for new employees.
2. Step – Application selection
From all applications they select the candidates meeting our formal requirements. After
presenting selected applications to our special department they contact approved candidates and
invite them to participate in the next stage of the process.
3. Step – Assessment Centre
a) administration employees. Themeeting is divided into several parts. At first they invite candidates to workin teams. This
workshows cooperation and communication skills. Next, they ask candidates to complete a Germanlanguage test (voluntary)
as well as self-assessment questionnaire and personal form
b) production employees. Duringthe meeting candidates haveto perform agility exercise and measurementtest. Thenext part
involves participation ina short group activity as well as completing self-assessment questionnaire and personal form.
4. Step – Interview
If all previous steps were passed, candidates areinvited to the interviewconducted by their
immediate supervisor and an employee of the HumanResources Department.
5. Step – Decision
After the analysis of all steps they contact candidates and inform themon a decision concerningemploymentin Volkswagen
Poznan.
TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT
A lot has been happening at the Volkswagen Electric Research Laboratory
(ERL).
Sevennew technologies fromVolkswagen:
1. Traffic Jam Pilot
TheTraffic JamPilot was previewed in an A7concept car, and word is that it had makeits wayto the next-genA8production
model in2016.Thistech takes complete control of the carat speeds up to 64kphin traffic jams, when thesystem is activated. It
has already been tested by VWfor thousands of kilometres onUSroads.
2. Autonomous Parking
This is also madeits appearance on 2016,and allows the carto parkitself into a suitable space once it has been found. The
system connectswith the driver's Smartphone, allowing himto instantly abort the manoeuvreif a danger is detected. Withthis
tech onboard, cars can park themselves into tight spaces with just about 20cmon each side.
3.Steering wheel mounted touch pads
Touchpad'saremounted on either sides of the steering wheel and allow the driver to inputcommands using
their thumbs. Althoughthis is being developed keepingthe global markets in mind, it is easier to use these
touchpad's in English and Western European alphabet.
4.Connected Cars
VW is coming up with a technology that it hopes will connect cars on the road. Thecompanyis looking at this technology to
allow cars talk to one anotherabout a whole host of functions – to tell the othercars about traffic conditions, road conditions,
hazards on the road, etc. Thiswill help makethe flow of traffic faster and smoother.
5.iBeetle App
TheiBeetle allows full iPhone integration to the VW Beetle. Theapp docks into thecar and allows functions such as theability
for tweets and Face book posts to be read on themove, pictures to be taken and uploaded directly to Face book, and the ability
to recorddriving logs and data – suchas the amount of time spent drivingwith the roof down – and uploaded to social media.

Accessories such as surfboards and bikes arelinkedto thecar through the cloud. If theywere to bestolen, you’dbeinformed
on yoursmart phoneor smart watch. Theultimate goal is to have increased connectivity between all sorts of products, so that
whensomeone tries to use or sell the stolen product, it will beable to connect with smart technology and state that it is
stolen.
This pieceof technology shows that thecar is a machinethat is capable of learning. Thecaris mounted with four GoPro cameras
which take a picture every five seconds. This way, over a two hourjourney,some 6,000pictures aretaken whichamounts to
32GBdata. Since this is too muchfor someone to go through, the car does the job for the driver, and picks out the best pictures
possible to upload on social media.

Air protection against pollution:
One of the criteria for implementation of Volkswagen Poznan investment projects is the
question of air quality. The latest technologies and highly efficient reduction devices
minimise the production's impact on the environment
Reduction in carbon dioxide emissions
The plant's boiler house as well as heating and technological devices are fuelled with
natural gas - the most ecological fuel available in Wielkopolska
Water and sewage management
One of the production process's priorities is the concern for water cleanliness and
use .on the premises of Volkswagen Poznan plants there are 23 measuring points
conducting constant monitoring of ground waters.
Waste management
Volkswagen pays significant attention to recovery of recyclable materials such as:
waste paper, plastic and non-ferrous metals. Segregation of production waste is
performed in places they are generated from.
Chemical Disposal
Certified cabinets for dangerous substances, spillage containers, impregnating
tanks - are only some of the devices ensuring the plant's chemical safety.

  • 6. Operations The pressshop: At Wolfsburg theplant processes around1,500metric tonnes of sheet metal every day . Thesheet metal is cut and pre- stamped into special plates, then they are fully galvanised. The bodyshop: It is next in the production process.   • 8. Outbound logistics: Vehicle logistics plans and controls the transport processes for all finished vehicles between the production sites and importers around the world. Ouraffiliate Auto Port controls the import and export terminal for all brands in this port. A special feature is that Volkswagen Group Logistics also operates cardrivers themselves. Forthis distribution, they are concentrating onthe transport modes, lorries and seagoing vessels in approximately 150 markets.
