In the Nordic library organizations we believe that international cooperation can create a better world. That's one of the reasons why we meet, once a year, with all the other Nordic countries, discussing how we can strengthen cooperation between libraries for the benefit of people and society. (And I do not mention Trump at all)
This year we meet in Copenhagen and have a series of presentations and discussions, which you can see more about here.

Digital Library Behavior
The Danish Think Tank has produced the most profound study
on digital library behavior, barriers and drivers for digital library
use. The aim of the study is to give deep insight into digital
behavior in Denmark and a tool to define a new digital direction
for public libraries.
15. 483 Libraries in 2015

stores and 300 “open libraries”*)

19. 300 “open Libraries” in Denmark
We have 98 main-libraries and 350 smaller Libraries, some of them we call
“open Libraries” it is term for a concept that allows users to access the library
space in principle 24/7 and serve them- selves with loans and return materials.
And use the computers, read or maybe even set up a meeting or an event, if
the space allows it. In the first instance the term ‘open library’ was chosen as
the concept was implemented in libraries that had typically been branches with
short – and often inconvenient – opening hours. And ‘open library’ is also a
term preferable to ‘self service library’, as this concept requires another kind of
professional support enabling the users to complete the necessary transactions
themselves and to find their way in the library.
In a few years this concept has spread to 300 libraries in Denmark and more
are planned.
