Description:
Located northwest of Cusco, Mount of Salkantay, the cordillera's tallest peak, is at the
eastern end of the chain and rises to 6271 meters above sea level. The
name Salkantay means 'Savage Mountain' which may refer to the swirling clouds that
rise up from the jungle lowlands and engulf the peak.
This amazing trek is surrounded the magnificent Salkantay Mountain (6.271m/20569ft),
one of the highest and most stunning in the Peruvian Andes. Your first two days are
dominated by the impressive "Apus" of Salkantay and Huamantay, as you pass through
the high puna landscape.

Salkantay Trek Peru Itinerary:
Day 1: Cusco - Mollepata - Sayllpata - Soraypampa
Early in the morning we leave the city of the Cusco and passing by the localities of
Izcuchaca and Limatambo we arrive at Mollepata (9am. approximately). We stop
there for having a light breakfast in order to start our long walk of the first day
along with the supporting personnel. About 12m. we get ready to have the lunch in the
denominated sector Silca Field. Later, after three hours of long walk we will arrive at our
first camping: Soraypampa.
Day 2: Soraypampa - Salkantay Pass - Chaullay
After a good breakfast we prepare ourselves to undertake the long and hardest stretch
of the trip, leaving at 7am. We cross all the denominated Salkantay Pampas site from
where we`ll go towards the left side of the snow-capped mountain Umantay which is
next to the snowed one Salkantay. About 12pm we will be in the highest point (step
Salkantay Umanata to 4500 a.s.l.). From this place we observe the snowed ones and
glaciers of the Salkantay. Besides we`ll appreciate the stunning view of the falling snow
( avalancha). After one hour of having reduced the trek rythm, we have the lunch.
Later we restart the trek until the place denominated Huayrac we`ll set up our second
campsite.
Salkantay Trek Peru Day 03 : Challway - Hidroelectrica - Aguas Calientes
Around 5:00a.m., we will start our trek and we will enjoy the beautiful sunrise. We will
walk for about 5 hours toward Playa Sahuayaco and during this period; we will observe
a town called Collpabamba, also called the “Forest Cloudy Brow” where waterfalls,
fruit-bearing trees, varied flora, and birds can be observed. salcantay pass river
crossingIf we are lucky, we will be able to observe the famous bird called the “Cock of
the Rocks'. Once at Playa Sahuayaco, we will take a local bus to drive us to the
hydroelectric train station. At around 1:30p.m., we will have our lunch at the
hydroelectric. At 3:20p.m., we will take a train from the hydroelectric to the town of
Aguas Calientes (2000 meters above sea level). Here, you have the option of going to
the thermal hot springs. We will have dinner at 7:00p.m. and accommodation at the
hotel or hostel of your choice.
Salkantay Trek Peru Day 4: Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Cusco
Just after the breakfast we spend the day visiting the historical sanctuary of MACHU
PICCHU, nowadays, regarded as the new wonder of the world. In the evening, about
the lunching time return to the city of the Cusco in train (back paker). Transfer to your
hotel.
Included:
Collection from your hotel in the morning and transfer in private transport to
Mollepata, starting point of the trek.
Entrance fee to Machu Picchu.
