2. Prepare your pots Draw your chosen shape straight on to the potato with a pencil, then cut with a sharp knife. You will need: Pre-washed fabric Potatoes / sharp knife Fabric paint Paint brushes Sewing hoop Threads Rubber stamps & ink (optional) Cover buttons & tool (any size) Strong adhesive (Araldite or E6000) Hair accessories (hair bands, bobby pins, slides etc)
3. Time to get messy! Brush (or stamp) fabric paint on to the potatoes to print your fabric …
4. Stitch it! Leave the paint to dry, then put it in a hoop and add some kisses - Tip: I marked the fabric with four dots so Em knew where to go up and down to make the x’s
5. … or maybe try some stamping * We used black VersaCraft fabric ink
6. Now remove the shank from the button back with a pair of pliers, then thread some strong cotton (approx 20cm) through the holes before turning them into buttons. (… leave the thread hanging loose ready for the next stage)
7. Stitch the buttons to your head band/hair slides, tie off the ends and add a dab of glue to fix.
