 After Independence Top Priority was given to Agriculture
Sector by Govt of India.
 1980s period was called as ‘Wider Technology Dissemination’
of Indian Agriculture Sector.
 Between 1981 to 1992 there is good increase in food grain
production. In this ‘Late Green Revolution’ period, agriculture
sector recorded impressive growth.
 From 1992 to 1998 period many reforms, technologies were
introduced into Indian Agri sector.
 The period between 1999 to 2004 is a period of negligence for
Indian agriculture.
 Revival of agriculture sector started in 2005.

4. CHANGING TRENDS
 In last two decades Indian Agri Sector transformed into
more business oriented.
 Mechanisation into sector such as tractors etc., brought
revolution changes.
 New irrigation systems such as drip made irrigation
management easy and saved abundant water resources.
 Improved seeds and supply of fertilisers lead to higher
yields.
 Development rural infrastructure helped the farming sector
to reach potential areas.
 State & Central govts focus on agriculture improved the
performance of the agriculture sector.

of State & Central govt bodies.
• Introduction of Precision farming.

• Establishment of Public & Private nurseries.
• Setting up of Soil Testing Labs.

• Purchasing end agri produce directly at farm gate. This
can be commodity wise activity with very big foot
print. It involves establishment of pack houses,
warehouses, cold storages, cold chain networks, supply
chain and creation of logistics.
• Selling them to wholesalers in urban areas. Mostly to
major markets. It can be done moderately big areas.
• Retailing them across the populated areas. It involves
establishment of small retail stores, organised supply
to big stores, malls, hostels, hotels etc., It limited to a
small geographical areas.
