Why Participate in the Certificate Program?
• Earn an online credential – many schools prefer their

online faculty to have some sort of formal credential
from an external agency
• Meet and interact with other online faculty to share
thoughts, ideas, and experiences
• Learn about relevant topics of interest from experts
• Get support from a mentor of your choosing for the
duration of the program
• Become a better online instructor by learning tips,
methods, course design techniques, etc.
Phil McNair…
Other Advantages
• The Sloan-C program is recognized as one of the

best by most schools; the credential has value
• Sloan-C represents many institutions but operates as
an independent organization
• The program provides a low-cost way for schools to
enhance their own faculty training
• Networking opportunities, both online and face to
face…conferences, publications
• Potential opportunity for you to become a mentor or
workshop facilitator
• Helps you stay connected with the online teaching
community
