1. TREATING HYPERTENSION WITHOUT MEDICATION
Blood pressure is the pressure exerted by your
blood against the walls of your blood vessels. Your
heart pumps blood with some pressure so that it
will be able to reach all part of your body.
This is important because your cells need the
nutrient and oxygen-rich blood for their energy
requirement. But sometimes extra pressure is
exerted by your heart and this causes your blood
pressure level to go very high. The medical term
for high blood pressure is hypertension. A blood
pressure of 140/90 and above means you have a
high blood pressure.
A lot of people are not aware that they have hypertension and this is because the symptoms of
hypertension are similar with those of other health conditions. This is also the reason why it has
been tagged as the “silent killer”. High blood pressure increases your risk of having a heart
disease, kidney failure, eye damage and stroke.
When you have high blood pressure you are most likely to have two or more of the following
symptoms:
• Head heaviness
• Chest palpitations
• Shortness of breath
• Nose bleeding
2. • Face or eye turns red
• Disturbed sleep
• Sore back and/or knees
• Short temper
• Lightheadedness, vertigo or dizziness
• Fatigue
• Visual problems
Hypertension is classified as primary or essential hypertension and secondary hypertension.
When there is no identifiable underlying condition causing high blood pressure this is known as
primary or essential hypertension. But when there is an identifiable underlying condition which
causes hypertension to develop this is called secondary hypertension.
Some of these health conditions are kidney problem, pregnancy, medical side effects, arsenic
exposure, congenital blood vessel defects, and potassium deficiency. There is also the white
coat hypertension or syndrome wherein your blood pressure increases in front of medical
people such as doctors and nurses or clinical atmosphere. The cause of this is due to your
mental state during the measurement of your blood pressure and by the atmosphere.
Hypertension risk factors are divided into two namely changeable and unchangeable risk
factors. Changeable risk factors are those which can lower or even cure your high blood
pressure with some consistent effort. Unchangeable risk factors are those factors which cannot
be lower even with maximum effort.
A lot of people with hypertension can manage their blood pressure by following some home
remedies to lower their blood pressure.
