So what is film
   distribution again??
• It is the company that distributes the film.
• They take it from the production company
  (who make it / produce it / film it)
• And deliver the film to the exhibitors (the
  cinemas and DVD / Blue Ray markets).
• So it is the link between the film and the
  public.
What are the aims of the
          distribution company?
•   To bring the film to as wide a target audience as
    possible.

•   They do this by:
So its not just money from cinema box offices that
                  makes money?
The distribution budget....
• This can be up to half the size of the whole
  production budget.
• This can mean £60M on top of the
  production budget of ‘Skyfall’ which was
  between £100M and £130M.
• Total cost £175M

  its opening weekend?
• What was the advertising budget?
• Where was the trailer shown and why?
• Where was the poster shown and why?
