Experience Summary
Santanu Biswas is the Director of eHealth Services at du,
Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company in
UAE. An electrical engineer by degree, an alumnus of IIM
Ahmedabad and a consummate marketing professional
with a creative flair, he is today an outspoken evangelist
for meaningful mobile health adoption and an active
industry speaker, blogger and tweeter.
He is currently heading the development & execution of du’s strategy in
the mobile health and eHealth arena and is tasked with building
sustainable business models aligned with existing and emerging clinical
objectives. He is passionate and focused about building linkages between
mobile technologies and other “connected life” ecosystems. He is engaged
in raising awareness in the sector, and active in miscellaneous
collaborative policy advocacy with key stakeholders in this arena.
He is the owner of the du mobile health strategy rollout – aptly branded
Smart Health. It was awarded The Mobies at the recently concluded
Mobile Show for the best mHealth initiative in the MENA region. His recent
successes include the commercial launch of the first ever Around the Clock
Physician Helpline for du customers and the ongoing augmentation of the
portfolio of wellness and lifestyle management content for the UAE
market, and developing innovative pilot models for chronic care disease
management. His responsibilities include understanding market needs,
evaluating technological, business and clinical models and engaging in
opportunities to deliver innovative solutions to the healthcare and related
sectors as a telecom operator.
Santanu’s expertise lies in the effective engagement of telecom operators,
technology providers, insurance, regulatory and health care providers to
deliver connected health care; liaising within to leverage the traditional
technology and service offerings of a telco and then developing deep
competencies for the healthcare sector.
As a regional thought leader in the mHealth space, he has spoken and
delivered keynotes at prestigious summits including the mHealth Summit
at Cape Town, the M+Health seminar at Arab Health, the Connected World
Forum, The Mobile Show and is looking forward to the engagements at
Hospital Build, Dubai and World Mobile Health Congress, Boston.
He has built deep partnerships within the healthcare ecosystem, especially
across the technology- services spectrum and healthcare providers; and is

He has provided leadership and consulting across multiple and complex
healthcare projects across the GCC and has a hands-on understanding of

He has over 18 years of experience and has held senior roles in start ups,
