3. This is a report that will be discussing the history and the growth of
one of the most luxurious French brands. This report will include a
summary and show the stock shares of a bag names after an English
actress and singer that was based in France.
4. » Hermès is a French high fashion brand that is very known due to its
prestigious status worldwide. The luxurious brand was founded by Thierry
Hermès; he was born in Germany and moved to France at the age of 13 in
1828. The retail company initially started in 1837, where it was a harness
workshop for European noblemen. When Thierry passed away, his son was
in charge of the brand and moved the location of the retail store to 24 rue
du Faubourg Saint-Honoré in France, where the store still stands until
today. During his time, with the help of his children, they introduced the
production of saddles where they sold them to different countries
including Russia, Asia, North America…
5. Hermès became really popular within the high-class people. In the year 1922, the first leather hand bag was made, it was
designed by Émile-Maurice after his wife complained for not having a suitable handbag to carry. Emile also brought out a
range of different accessories and clothing collections.
Then by 1924, Hermès decided to go internationally and opened up two stores in the United States of America, from
then the first lady was able to design some of the known goods till this present day.
When Émile-Maurice died in 1951, the company was passed on to his son in law Robert Dumas-Hermès, where he
continued the production of handbags and accessories and also incorporated the making of jewelry and silk scarves and
also adopted the famous orange colored packaging and the horse carriage logo.
Nowadays, ‘Hermès has reported the highest return on invested capital and the best operating profit after tax in 13 of
the past 15 years’ (Solca, 2015). What makes Hermes a very unique and prestigious until today is the fact that it is very
hard to own one of their bags. The hassle an individual must go through to have their name in the waiting list where they
might be waiting for around two to three years is what helps to maintain the brand name and status.
Hermes Is a brand that offers variety for females and males. It offers leather goods; such as bags, wallets and even
leather bracelets. Hermes also creates clothing; such as daily clothing or equestrian items. Some of the larger leather
goods Hermes sells is saddles and girths for horses. In general Hermes is an all rounded brand, for males and females.
Although Hermes offers its customers different types of leather goods, the most popular leather good is the Hermes
bags. Every bag has a story behind it; there is the Birkin bag, Kelly bag and air bag…etc. Each bag is unique in its own way,
and it requires a minimum of 18 hours to fully make one. The time and effort put in to create these unique, fashionable
leather goods is outstanding but it Is all worth it. Being able to purchase a Hermes bag shows elegance and shows your
wealth status as Hermes goods are not cheap.
6. » Having discussed the variety if leather good Hermes brand offers, my
favorite and most popular in female fashion has to be the Birkin Hermes
bag. The Birkin bag Is one of my personal favorite. It is a bag that was
named after the British singer and actor, Jane Birkin. The bag was
designed by Jean-Louis Dumas. The bag was made personally because of
Jane. It started from a small conversation on a plane, Jane was
complaining about not having enough space to carry her things;
“Datebooks can never hold all my bits of paper”, “Bags never have enough
pockets!” (Sons, 2004). The Birkin bag comes in different sizes, different
leather colours and textures. Crocodile skin and Ostridge leather are the
more expensive type. This bag is so hard to purchase, one being the huge
price tag on it, second being the demand for it. It is fairly popular between
the celebrities and thus having its status as one of the luxurious bags. The
bag can be customized to personal preference.
