INTRODUCTION
 Brain chip technology is a technology which
involves communication based on neural
activity generated by the brain.
 Brain chip technology implements the brain
computer interface.
BRAIN COMPUTER INTERFACE
 A BCI is a computer-based system that
acquires brain signals, analyzes them, and
translates them into commands that are
relayed to an output device to carry out a
desired action.
BLOCK DIAGRAM
TYPES OF BCI
Invasive
Neurosurgery
TYPES
Semi invasive
ECoG
Non invasive
MRI,EEG
INVASIVE
 Invasive BCI’s are implanted directly into the
grey matter of the brain during neurosurgery.
 Produces the highest quality signals of BCI
devices but are prone to scar-tissue build-up.
SEMI AND NON-INVASIVE
 ELECTROCORTICOGRAPHY(ECOG)
 ELECTROENCEPHALOGRAPHY
 FMRI =FUNCTIONAL MAGNETIC
RESONANCE IMAGING
 MAGNETOENCEPHALOGRAPHY(MEG)
PROJECTS OF BCI
 Brain gate
 Honda ASIMO control
 Gaming control
 Bionic eye
 Remote controlled rat
BRAIN GATE
 The sensor, which is implanted into the brain,
monitors brain activity in the patient and
converts the intention of the user into
computer commands.
HONDA ASIMO CONTROL
 Research have developed an interface for
HONDA’SASIMO robot that allows
individuals to control it simply by thinking.
GAMING CONTROL
 Gaming control using a wearable and wireless
EEG- based brain-computer interface device
with novel dry foam-based sensors.
BIONIC EYE
 AVisual prosthesis, often referred to as a
bionic eye.
 Is an experimental visual device intended to
restore functional vision in those suffering
from partial or total blindness.
REMOTE CONTROLLED RAT
 Movement signals are transmitted from
computer to the brain of rat through a radio
receiver strapped to its back.
 Military purposes and human rescue
operations.
BENEFITS OF BRAIN CHIPS
 Increases the dynamic range of senses.
 Giving light to blind and giving paralyzed
patients full mental control of limbs.
 New genetics modifications in the next
generation.
 Rescue missions.
 The advantage of implants is that the
decisions making power away from the
addict. It enables a person make a better
choice.
DRAWBACKS
 Research is still in beginning stages.
 The current technology is crude.
 Electrodes outside of the skull can detect very
few electric signals from the brain.
 Electrode placed inside the skull create scar
tissue in the brain.
FUTURE OF BRAIN CHIPS
 It will increase the dynamic range of senses,
for EG. seeing IR,UV, and chemical spectra.
 It will enable “ CYBERTHINK ”- invisible
communication with others when making
decision, and
 It will enable consistent and constant access
to information where and when it is needed.
CONCLUSION
 Brain chipTechnology is a technology which
involves communication based on neural
activity generated by the brain.
 It gives paralyzed patients greater ability to
interact with their environments.
 Brain Gate Neural Interface creates a direct
link between a person’s brain and a computer,
translating neural activity into action.
