NAGAR METRO STATION. PASSENGERS CAN DIRECTLY REACH FROM THE IMS USING METRO.THE PARKINGWILL HAVE SPACE FOR 900 CARS.THE IMS AT AJNI WILL
FEATURE WORLD-CLASSAMENITIES LIKE INTEGRATEDTICKET COUNTERS,TRANSIT PLATFORMS,WAITING ROOMS, ESCALATORS,AS WELL AS FOOD COURTS AND
RETAIL STORES.“

THE PURPOSE OF TAKINGTHISTOPIC IS TO UNDERSTANDTHE ONGOING PROBLEMS
OF CONGESTION RAISED BYTO INCREASE NEED OFTRANSPORTATION.
THE PROJECT BASICALLY COVERS THREE MAJOR PARTS:
- THE LOCAL BUS TERMINUS
- PAY AND PARK SYSTEM FOR PRIVATE CARS
- THE PLAZA CONNECTING THE FOB(FOOT
OVER BRIDGE ANDTHE CONSECUTIVE METRO
ASWELL AS RAILWAY STATION)
THE PROPOSED INTERMODAL STATIONWILL BE A
STATE OF MIXED LAND USE DEVELOPMENT,
INTEGRATINGTRANSPORT FACILITIES. ITWILL
INTEGRATE PUBLIC AND PRIVATETRANSPORTWITH
COMMERCIAL AND RETAIL DEVELOPMENT.THE
DESIGN SHALL INCLUDE:

2 Significance
Located in a high density residential area and next
to the kashmere gate metro station.
It has been constructed recently according to
the new planning proposal by sinnar
corporation to distribute their bus services in
different locations and to have a better infra
structural facilities.
It is located within 2-3 miles from the railway
station.
The location and the site context has a major impact on
the image and functions of the station complex.
3 Location
The station is located in the high density are of old
delhi, over luthian road , north of the city wall,
beyond kashmere gate to the east and tilak park
on the west.
The site is located on the nashik - pune
highway and the terminal is accessed through
the main highway.
The site is at the crossing of three roads.Along,
there are four sectors.The site is accessed by
two major highways,nh-21 to rupnagar and nh-
22 to shivla.
The location of a transit hub should be decided
considering the catchment area and the demands of the
users in and around the area.
4 Surroundings
To the south-west of the terminus is the kashmere
gate metro station, shamnath marg towards the
north.
The site is a corner plot surrounded by 12m
wide nashik-pune highway and 9m wide sub-
road going towards residential colonies. On
the north side of the site, is the existing
msrtc depot area and a vacant area for future
expansion.
There are four sectors along the site and there
is dense population in the catchment area.
There are commercial shops in and along the
area.
The site surroundings become a crucial element in the
designing of a transit hub, as it helps to understand and
design the hub as per the demands of the surrounding as
well as the users.
5 Impact on traffic
Major transport intercahnges occur in this region
and the roads have to take care of a large volume
of public and private transport.
This terminal has become an important
corridor of bus transit services, as well as
traffic circulation.
The segregation of the different modes of
transport and activities are not properly
worked out.
A transit hub should be designed such that the people are
encouraged to use public transport services instead of
using their private vehicles and thus reducing traffic on the
roads.

8 Accessibility
Pedestrian entry and bus entry-exit from the east;
vehicular entry from the north. Pedestrian subway
from metro station is closed.
One entry-exit for buses;separate pedestrian
entry and driveway for private vehicles.
Separate entry-exit for intercity and interstate
buses and bus terminals.
The public and private vehicular traffic should be
segregated to avoid traffic congestion.The drop off area/
entrance plaza should be large enough to accommodate
large amounts of crowds.
9 Parking
Separate entry-exit and provided for parking of for
wheelers and two wheelers.Taxi, bus and
autorickshaw laybyes provided. No separate
vehicular and pedestrian entry.
Separate two wheeler parking provided for
those going to the commercial shops,besides
parking for buses and four wheelers.
Separate two wheeler parking provided for
thosed going to the commercial shops.Open
land for private parking and bus parking has
also been provided.
Sufficient parking should be provided within the site area
to prevent traffic on the roads.Two wheeler, four wheeler
and bus parking should be segregated.
Pedestrian as well as vehicular circulation should be kept
in mind while designing the parking.Commercial zone
should be provided with extra parking area.
Taxi, autorickshaw and bus laybyes should also be
provided for people who just have to be dropped off and
not wanting to wait for longer durations of time.

The circulation should be such that there are no clashes

friendly so that the amenities can be accessed easily
without having to look for them.

• 4 storeyed building.Each floor with 164 cars. Helipad on top.
• 6 stairwell:4 exterior;2 interior.
• Maximum natural ventilation:This is achieved by having the
exterior walls 1m high all through the building with hand rails.
• In-situ cast concrete flooring.Floors rested on system of cross
beams supported on 800mm dia columns.
• Small heighted walls for flow of air and light.
• No provision for disabled parking.
• Column to column distance: 9m apart approximately.
MERITS DEMERITS
• Ramp position avoids congestion

• The stair cases are at strategic
positions to aid vertical movement.

TRINITY CENTRE MULTI-STOREY CAR PARK,
NORTH EAST ENGLAND.
• Materials used: grey brick and reinforced concrete.
• 7 storeyed parking.
• Disabled parking bays available.
• The building was made special because of its modernist design
and its minimal use of steel.The complex was made of grey
brick and reinforced concrete and was a little ahead of its time;
it was hailed as a contemporary design classic. It had seven tiers
of parking decks which are raised above the adjoining shopping
centre by a "forest" of piloti columns.The decks on the north
face have a slight curve creating a wave effect.
• Motorcycles may park free of charge in this car park;There is
one lift in operation;There is CCTV in operation and also on
foot security.
MERITS DEMERITS
• The multi-storey car park has
provision for parking of motorcycles.

THE PLAZA BUS TERMINAL PARKING COMPLEX CURRENT PROPOSAL FOR INTERMODAL PASSENGER STATION IN NAGPUR. “THE PROPOSAL IS TO DESIGNAN INTERMODAL STATION (IMS) CONSISTING OF BUS TERMINALWITH 140 BAYS,WHICHWILL BE CONNECTEDTOTHE CONGRESS NAGAR METRO STATION. PASSENGERS CAN DIRECTLY REACH FROM THE IMS USING METRO.THE PARKINGWILL HAVE SPACE FOR 900 CARS.THE IMS AT AJNI WILL FEATURE WORLD-CLASSAMENITIES LIKE INTEGRATEDTICKET COUNTERS,TRANSIT PLATFORMS,WAITING ROOMS, ESCALATORS,AS WELL AS FOOD COURTS AND RETAIL STORES.“ THE IMPLEMENTATIONAND OPERATION OFTHE IMSWILL BE DONE BY A SPECIAL PURPOSEVEHICLE (SPV) BETWEENTHE MINISTRY OF ROADTRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYSTHROUGH NHAI, RAILWAYS MINISTRY AND STATE GOVERNMENTS. THE CURRENT WORK CONSIST OF A LOCAL BUS TERMINALWITH 15 BAYS, PAYAND PARK SYSTEM FOR PRIVATE CARS, PLAZA FOR THE PASSENGERS PASSING BYTHE FOB,AMPLE PARKING SPACES FOR THE COMMUTERS AS WELL ASTHE WORKERS, DEPOTAREA,AND COMMERCIAL SPACES. UNDERSTANDING NAGPUR CITY SIGNIFICANCE OF NAGPUR NAGPUR ACTS ASTHE SECOND CAPITAL ANDTHIRD LARGEST CITY OFTHE STATE OF MAHARASHTRA. IT IS PROPOSEDAS ONE OFTHE SMART CITIES. THE PROJECT BASICALLY COVERS THREE MAJOR PARTS: - THE LOCAL BUS TERMINUS - PAY AND PARK SYSTEM FOR PRIVATE CARS - THE PLAZA CONNECTING THE FOB(FOOT OVER BRIDGE ANDTHE CONSECUTIVE METRO ASWELL AS RAILWAY STATION) THE PROPOSED INTERMODAL STATIONWILL BE A STATE OF MIXED LAND USE DEVELOPMENT, INTEGRATINGTRANSPORT FACILITIES. ITWILL INTEGRATE PUBLIC AND PRIVATETRANSPORTWITH COMMERCIAL AND RETAIL DEVELOPMENT.THE DESIGN SHALL INCLUDE: a. INTERMODAL STATION FACILITIES INCLUDE ADEQUATE NUMBER OF BUS BAYSTOTAKE CARE OF INTRA CITY DEMANDS. b. LONGER DURATION PARKING FACILITY FOR PRIVATE CARS. It has been constructed recently according to the new planning proposal by sinnar corporation to distribute their bus services in different locations and to have a better infra structural facilities. It is located within 2-3 miles from the railway station. The location and the site context has a major impact on the image and functions of the station complex. 3 Location The station is located in the high density are of old delhi, over luthian road , north of the city wall, beyond kashmere gate to the east and tilak park on the west. The site is located on the nashik - pune highway and the terminal is accessed through the main highway. The site is at the crossing of three roads.Along, there are four sectors.The site is accessed by two major highways,nh-21 to rupnagar and nh- 22 to shivla. The location of a transit hub should be decided considering the catchment area and the demands of the users in and around the area. 4 Surroundings To the south-west of the terminus is the kashmere gate metro station, shamnath marg towards the north. The site is a corner plot surrounded by 12m wide nashik-pune highway and 9m wide sub- road going towards residential colonies. On the north side of the site, is the existing msrtc depot area and a vacant area for future expansion. There are four sectors along the site and there is dense population in the catchment area. There are commercial shops in and along the area. The site surroundings become a crucial element in the designing of a transit hub, as it helps to understand and design the hub as per the demands of the surrounding as well as the users. 5 Impact on traffic Major transport intercahnges occur in this region and the roads have to take care of a large volume of public and private transport. This terminal has become an important corridor of bus transit services, as well as traffic circulation. The segregation of the different modes of transport and activities are not properly worked out. A transit hub should be designed such that the people are encouraged to use public transport services instead of using their private vehicles and thus reducing traffic on the roads. 6 Function Inter-state bus terminal;local bus stand; commercial area;parking. Total site area = 10 acres;total built- up area = 11960 sq.Mt.;Arrival bloack = 7394 sq.Mt.; Departure block = 4560 sq.Mt. 8 Accessibility Pedestrian entry and bus entry-exit from the east; vehicular entry from the north. Pedestrian subway from metro station is closed. One entry-exit for buses;separate pedestrian entry and driveway for private vehicles. Separate entry-exit for intercity and interstate buses and bus terminals. The public and private vehicular traffic should be segregated to avoid traffic congestion.The drop off area/ entrance plaza should be large enough to accommodate large amounts of crowds. 9 Parking Separate entry-exit and provided for parking of for wheelers and two wheelers.Taxi, bus and autorickshaw laybyes provided. No separate vehicular and pedestrian entry. Separate two wheeler parking provided for those going to the commercial shops,besides parking for buses and four wheelers. Separate two wheeler parking provided for thosed going to the commercial shops.Open land for private parking and bus parking has also been provided. Sufficient parking should be provided within the site area to prevent traffic on the roads.Two wheeler, four wheeler and bus parking should be segregated. Pedestrian as well as vehicular circulation should be kept in mind while designing the parking.Commercial zone should be provided with extra parking area. Taxi, autorickshaw and bus laybyes should also be provided for people who just have to be dropped off and not wanting to wait for longer durations of time. 10 Circulation Linear circulation Linear circulation Bi-linear circulation The circulation should be such that there are no clashes between the vehicular and pedestrian traffic and also user friendly so that the amenities can be accessed easily without having to look for them. It had seven tiers of parking decks which are raised above the adjoining shopping centre by a "forest" of piloti columns.The decks on the north face have a slight curve creating a wave effect. • Motorcycles may park free of charge in this car park;There is one lift in operation;There is CCTV in operation and also on foot security.
