Dear Mr Jackson
I understand from your recent advertised listing on www.jobserve.com that you are
seeking an experienced Midwife for your hospital’s Ob-gyn department. I have just the
qualifications you have listed in your ad, and have enclosed a resume for your
consideration.
I have worked as a compassionate and qualified Midwife for the past 12 years at
Providence Hospital, having helped hundreds of expectant mothers give birth to their
children with comfort and compassion. I take pride in offering my medical
experience, knowledge of Ob-gyn practice, and my therapeutic and holistic participation
in birthing sessions to all of my clients; and I wish to bring my experience to your practice
at Ochsner Health System.
Please consider me today for the role of Midwife at Ochsner Health System. I would be
very grateful for an interview, and ask that you please contact me at (333)-772-4640 to
arrange for one.
Yours sincerely
Mark Dixon

Dear Mr Jackson
Cover letter
sample
I have seen that you are recruiting for a Midwife at (where) and I would like to apply for
this post.
I am a qualified Midwife and I qualified in (what year and where) and I have been working
(where doing what – yes Midwife but specify your skills).
I thoroughly enjoy the role of a Midwife, from dealing with ladies when they find out they
are pregnant right until they are discharged when the baby is here and doing well and to
be transferred over to the health visiting team instead.
Having a baby is a very precious and vulnerable time for women and I feel that with my
kind and caring nature I can make a difference to how they are feeling at this time and
provide support when they need it the most.
I enjoy seeing that first moment that a baby is brought into the world and sharing that
special time with the parents is very warming.
As well as my patient and calm nature I am also very organised and thorough in my work
and am able to complete paperwork efficiently and accurately according to guidelines we
need to follow. I also realise that the role of a midwife is not a 9-5 role and that you need
to be on call at certain points and I am more than happy to do this to support my patients
as best as I can.
I have enclosed a copy of my latest CV detailing my previous experiences. Should you be
interested in my skills and experiences please do not hesitate to contact me.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely
Mark Dixon
