“Deliver” in the New Testament

Delivered from Satan to God

―And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.‖

―And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, in which you formerly walked
according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air,
of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience. ‖

Delivered from Error to Truth

Delivered from Darkness to Light

Interpretation & Application
The word ‗soteria‘ in the Greek can mean both deliverance and preservation or
salvation, but both have in mind God rescuing an individual from the situation they
find themselves in. In essence, Zaccheus had been delivered by Christ / God that
day, with their being immediate evidence of his about face via fruit that he swore to
bring forth.



We talk about salvation and being ‗saved‘, but rarely is the
question asked ―Saved from what?‖



―And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the
righteous into eternal life.‖
(Matthew 25:46)

―Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and
believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come
into judgment, but has passed from death to life. ‖
(John 5:24)

―For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is
eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. ‖

―I know whom I have believed and I am convinced that He is able to
