Slide tour of the 8" Skywatcher telescope available to hire from Dark Sky Telescope Hire. See http://www.darkskytelescopehire.co.uk for more information.
3. The 8” Skywatcher comes with two eyepieces
(25mm and 10mm) and a 2x Barlow Lens
4. To assemble the telescope: Lift the tube onto
the base so that the tube’s side bearings nestle
between four side saddle bearings on the base
– two on each of the inside base walls
5. Use the tension
handles to
secure the
telescope tube
to the base.
There are two
handles – one
for either side
of the base.
7. The 8” diameter
mirror at the bottom
of the tube collects
light and bounces it
back to the
secondary mirror (at
centre of image and
held in place by 4
vanes). The
secondary mirror
focuses the light into
the eyepiece draw
tube at upper right of
image.
8. Eyepieces slot into
the draw tube and
are secured with
two side holding
pins. Objects are
brought to focus
in the eyepiece by
twisting the
focuser knobs
back and/or forth.
