•   Great Database engine which is Useful in E-mail, Bug Tracking, Timesheet
    Management, Blogs and RSS feeds

•   Entirly moved from C++ to Erlang for CouchDB Development in Feb 06

•   Developed by Ericsson

•   used in Telecommunication industry

•   April 2006 - announcement to be accessibe via http-based RESTful API

•   First version 0.2 in Aug 2006 run only on Windows

•   In August 2007 - Announcement to be in XML using JavaScript Object
    Notation(JSON)

•   Second version 0.7.0 in November 2007 with JavaScript featured and web-based
    administration interface(later named Futon)

•   Joined again in IBM to develop CouchDB

•   CouchDB license changed to GPL to use Apache License

•   It includes Map(using key:value)/Reduce(to reindex from last update) function.

•   Third Version 0.8.0 released in june 2008
•
•   Fourth version 0.9.0 released in April 2009 which became a server like Apache,
    Tomcat, etc

•   Fifth version 0.9.1 released in July 2009

•   Beta version 0.10.0 launched in October 2009
