Organic architecture is a philosophy of architecture which promotes harmony between human habitation and the natural world through design approaches so sympathetic and well integrated with its site, that buildings, furnishings, and surroundings become part of a unified, interrelated composition.
2. Organic architecture promotes harmony between human habitation and the
natural world through design approaches so sympathetic and well integrated with
its site
organic architecture was coined by Frank Lloyd Wright
-literal relationship to the natural surroundings
-reflecting the symbiotic ordering systems of nature
Morphogenesis in architectural design
In architecture, morphogenesis is understood as a group of methods that
employ digital as generative tools for the derivation of form and its
transformation
Often in an aspiration to express contextual processes in built form
3. Bionics comes from biology world, and it helps to find unique design and
construction solutions. When inspiration is taken from bionics and used to
construct the buildings, it becomes organic architecture
Natural forms can become inspiration to architecture.
These shapes and inspirations are called bionics.
Bionic architecture refuses traditional rectangular shapes of buildings.
4. Architect and planner David Pearson proposed a list of rules towards the design of
organic architecture.
"Let the design:
•be inspired by nature and be sustainable, healthy, conserving, and diverse.
•unfold, like an organism, from the seed within.
•exist in the "continuous present" and "begin again and again".
•follow the flows and be flexible and adaptable.
•satisfy social, physical, and spiritual needs.
•"grow out of the site" and be unique.
•celebrate the spirit of youth, play and surprise.
•express the rhythm of music and the power of dance."

6. Modern Organic Architecture: Hybrid Urban Housing Units
this incredible Japanese housing structure is a strange new take on the fusion of
modernistic ideas and naturalistic aesthetics.
a tree-like curved-and-cut facade covers angular construction on the lower floors and
terminates midway up the building, leaving a very modern-looking box on top.
7. Kunsthaus Graz
The biomorphous building designed by Peter Cook and Colin Fournier—known locally as
the Friendly Alien
As an exhibition centre for contemporary art, the Kunsthaus exhibits Austrian and
international art from 1960 onwards. Its BIX media façade—designed by Berlin designers
realities:united—constitutes a unique fusion of architecture and media technology.

9. A perfect example is the Einstein Tower in Potsdam, Germany. Conceived by Erich
Mendelsohn in the depths of World War I, the tower was not opened until 1924 and is
still used today as a functioning solar observatory.
10. No discussion of Frank Lloyd Wright and organic architecture would be complete without
mentioning the magnificent Fallingwater House near Pittsburgh
11. The building form is derived from the outline of the crests of the waves of the sea. Linear
undulating balconies traverse the length of this residential apartment building offering
unrestricted views of the sea to each of the apartments.
12. Through years of study and experimentation, organic architecture came to
describe Wright’s total design ideology.
Some of the governing principles of this philosophy included:
-The belief that a building should appear
to grow easily from its site
-Choosing one dominant form for a
building and integrating that form
throughout
-Using natural colors: “Go into the
woods and field for color schemes”
-Revealing the nature of materials
-Opening up spaces
-Providing a place for natural foliage.
