  TED EVALUATION
Public Speaking Week 2
Elizabeth Gilbert mentions
her strong feelings about
not allowing others fears
to be bestowed on to you.

Continue attempting to
accomplish the ideas in your
own mind until you realize your
reality from it.
She first captures her
audience by
informing them of
her success as a
writer .
She first captures her

writer .
Ms. Gilbert uses some
                                 humor to keep her
                                 audience engaged.

She makes references to some
of the things people asked her
that could relate to what
audience members may have
heard themselves at one point
in their lives.
She stays true to
the third TED
commandment by
repeatedly
describing her
passion for
writing.
As a speaker I give her a rating of 3.5.
As a speaker I give her a rating of 3.5.

At times it felt as if she
                        would lose her
                        supporting ideas but she
                         would get back to her
                        main point.

                                                        would get back to her

                                                       main point.
on subject it would be
easier to follow her through
her speech.
It felt like a conversation with the
audience.

It was easy to see that she was
displaying her real personality.
Never stray to far from your main Idea
and supporting statements.

Mention your credentials, however do
not keep repeating them . It comes off
as an ego boost.

Relating with your audience can help
them feel comfortable with you as a
speaker.

Speak at a good pace so that all of your
words can be heard and understood.
Elizabeth Gilbert

Ken Robinson
There is a distinct difference in the performance and
experience in speaking between Ken Robinson and
Rating Elizabeth Gilbert.
5.0 Ken Robinson displayed a much more experienced approach in his
speech. He was very educated in his research of his topic. He
successfully incorporated humor in his speech. He also has an
incredible ability to control his crowd and lead them in the direction he
wants them to go. Even when he is telling a joke that is off subject, the
punch line brings it all back to his topic. You cant help but want to
       finish watching his presentation.

3.5 Elizabeth Gilbert is a good speaker but her inexperience shows. She
did show a tremendous passion for her subject but her delivery was a
bit difficult to follow. There was no real structure. Though she did have
mild success with humor at times her jokes weren't read by the
audience very well. At times she sort of rambled which causes you to
lose interest. She does have great potential to become a strong
speaker. She just needs the experience that only speaking more could
       provide.
