1. SHE’S GONE
She used to be called Today, just a few hours ago. Now, her
name has changed; she responds to Yesterday. She was our
hope, became our home but is our history. While we may not
still love her, she was the one we loved before we met her.
Heaven watered the ground when they heard her sound; for
Today’s majestic feet would not slap on dusty site. The birds
formed a choir, singing the welcome chorus – even birds the
world over. Sun woke from his sleep and peeped through the
sky; Today’s face to look at. While we forget the change of
name, we sometimes call her Today. But o, Today is gone.
She’s Yesterday. Her beauty took a peal of your eye.
She was your best friend and you never did a thing without
her. You lived with her all day and never went a second away.
For there was none beautiful as her; at least as you could see.
She gave you all her time and you played with most of it.
Little did you know that Today, she would soon leave. She
had measureless treasures; what the world’s richest
discovered.
Today, I may hate her. Today, I may love her. Today, I may
smile at her. Today, I may frown at her. But Today, when and
while she’s Yesterday, I can’t change her. I can’t make her
better. My mistake was this; I still called her Today. I forgot,
she is Yesterday.
She’s Yesterday. Whether she was good or bad, she will
altogether mean nothing if I don’t now call her by her new
name – Yesterday. If I call her Today, tomorrow will be like
2. her or probably worst. If I call her Today, she sucks my energy
and I can’t see Tomorrow. I will make life a pattern; a
position and not a progression. But one thing I do, ‘forgetting
those things which are behind’, I call her Yesterday.
Why do you tell me to forget my best friend? No! Yesterday
is not your best friend, Today is. Why do you instruct me to
forget such a beautiful friend? No, she is not most beautiful.
If you see the beauty in Today, tomorrow will be most
beautiful. That Today could not stay. So God gave you a new
girl. He gave you Today. Don’t mind Yesterday, she’s gone.
Whether you won yesterday or you failed, how you embrace
today, shows how you will be tomorrow.
