The key duties of this role include supervising all operations of a mining processing plant including crushing, milling, flotation, tailings, and water treatment. The role is responsible for ensuring production targets are met, minimizing costs while maintaining production, and maintaining a safe working environment. Additional duties involve training and developing staff, record keeping, and troubleshooting processing issues by liaising with maintenance and engineering teams.

1. Key Duties:
 Supervising the operations of crushing, milling (SAG and Ball Mill grinding), flotation, gravity
concentration recovery, tailings Filter presses ,Paste fill plant , Water Treatment Plant
 Have to ability to operate control room with scada
 To ensure that the production targets aremet or exceeded.
 Supervise & assign work to subordinates and ensure all their duties are carried out in an efficient
and timely manner.
 Reduce variation within the production circuits to allow for continuous optimization.
 Supervise the operation of the processing plant to ensure that a smooth and continual process is
maintained at all times.
 Maintain processing parameters set by the Metallurgical section of process department.
 Minimising processing costs, whilst maintaining/exceeding gold production targets.
 Ensure that all personnel working under your control adhere to company procedures and receive
positive instruction during the shift.
 Maintain regular and effective communication and feedback with peers, subordinates and
superiors.
 Regularly check that processing parameter set points arebeing achieved;
 Maintain planning / performance management system for personnel.
 Ensure any maintenance defects are filled out correctly, signed off and handed onto
Maintenance.
 Assist in developing operating procedures (SOP), inspection and audit sheets and training of
personnel.
 Completion, processing and management of personnel documentation, leave entitlements and
training programmes.
 Ensure that all plant operating data and information is accurately recorded on relevant log
sheets and, keep a log of the shift production summary/events.
 Coaching and Training of process staff (On job and once in a while classroom).
 Ensure that processing plant housekeeping is maintained to a very high standard.
 Set high quality work standards for both myself and other process staff.
 Ensure safe working practices within Processing Department;
 Continually searching for ways to improve upon exiting processing systems;
 Monitor and effectively manage process plant shift operation activities including production and
personnel.
 To ensure that all work assigned is completed in an efficient and timely manner.
 Maintaining a safe working environment and practices within work areas.
 Actively promote and conduct formal and informal risk assessments,
 Thoroughly investigate all injuries, accidents and equipment damage ensuring a satisfactory
standard of documentation for each takes place as soon as practicable.
 Actively promote safety awareness / safety culture of processing staff; Participate in work place
inspections / safety audits.
 Conduct risk assessments to identify and document hazards and develop / implement control
measures to reduce risk.
 Enforcing the Mine Regulation Act and Regulations clauses that apply to your work area.
 Foster pride in continuous improvement of safety within Process Department and Provide
necessary safety equipment in accordance with conditions of work.
 Working with the maintenance team(mechanical, electrical,
and instrumentation Engineers) to achieve efficient process plant equipment performance and
availability.
 Identifies operational bottlenecks and trouble shooting them. Liaise with mechanical, electrical,
and instrumentation Engineers to ensure that efficient and Effective implementation of
preventive Maintenance on equipments is observed.
 Liaise with shift chemist for plant performance results.

2.  Have the ability to operate mobile equipment- Bobcat, FEL’s, Forklifts etc.
 Generate daily reports on plant operations and performance.
 Report to plant superintendent on daily Operational performance and problems.
