Understanding the brief

  1. 1. Understanding the Brief?!
  2. 2. Step 1 - Dates • Pay attention to dates • Missing internal deadlines means missing feedback • Missing final deadline means no mark!
  3. 3. Step 2 – Key words • Highlight Key terms on your sheet • Look for words from the FAIR list and words that will help you with your production • Make a wordle.net and add it to your blog
  4. 4. Step 3 – Mark scheme • Look at the marking scheme, you are aiming for levels 4 or 5 only! • Highlight key words here; what do they mean? • Look at how the marks are split; what should have more attention paid to it? • This is what your lecturers and examiners use; so know it and you wont be sad!
  5. 5. Step 4 - Checklist • Create an ongoing checklist that clearly breaks down each task i.e. Primary/survey, Primary/focus group, Storyboard, Script etc and has deadline dates. • You have been given a checklist of MINIMUM items so use this to help • Use a calendar widget on your blog, or try http://iacls.cloudapp.net/person al.aspx for an interactive list or http://www.ehow.com/how_854 2496_create-list-within- wordpress-blog.html for some html coding for your blog
  6. 6. Step 5 – Diary • Keep a diary detailing all your main production decisions • Refer to the evaluation task for possible headings in your diary • Use this to help with the evaluation •
  7. 7. Step 6 - Communicate • If you don't talk to your team mates they wont talk to you • Production is not done alone • Share ideas and lines of enquiry freely • Set up a line of communication between you all (Facebook, Twitter etc) • Constantly refer to the class blog and Twitter • Talk to your lecturers; show them good and bad work.
  8. 8. Step 7 -Work • This is now your job – treat it like one • Work like a dog to get the results you deserve
