3. • Project Loon is a network of balloons traveling on the edge of space, designed to
connect people in rural and remote areas, help fill coverage gaps, and bring
people back online after disasters
• It is an initiative taken by Google to provide internet access all over the world.

5. • Project Loon’s balloon envelopes are made from sheets of polyethylene plastic and stand
fifteen meters wide by twelve meters tall when fully inflated.
1.ENVELOPE
• Balloon's are filled with Helium gas which makes them fly.

6. 2.SOLAR PANELS
• Each Unit's electronics are powered by an array of solar panels.
• In full Sun this solar panels can produce 100 Watts of power, that is enough to keep the
balloon working during day time as well as charging batteries for the night time.

7. 3.EQUIPMENT
• A Small Box weighing around 10Kg is hanged under the inflated
envelope.
• Which includes balloon's electronic equipment.

8. EQUIPMENT BOX
• This box contains Circuit Boards, Radio Antenna, WI-FI Card, & Batteries.
• The green circuitry is a computer running Linux, that manages the network and
records the statistics.

12. HOW LOON MOVES
• Project Loon balloons travel around 20 km above the Earth’s surface in the
stratosphere.
• Winds in the stratosphere are generally steady and slow-moving at between
5 and 20 mph, and each layer of wind varies in direction and magnitude.
• Project Loon uses software algorithms to determine where its balloons need to go,
then moves each one into a layer of wind blowing in the right direction. By moving
with the wind, the balloons can be arranged to form one large communications
network

13. Stratosphere
• The balloons will float along the winds in the stratosphere, approximately
20km above the surface. At such a distance, they cannot be seen with the
naked eye.

In this century, Google's new invention Google project loon provide a very valuable help
to poor people by accessing the internet facility. With this, almost all people may get the
ability to know the world of internet and utilize these facility to overcome the barriers.
