BSNL ready for mobile number portability State-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) to start mobile number portability (MNP) by the scheduled Oct 31 deadline The country has been split into two number portability zones comprising 11 circles each and each zone is to be serviced by a separate MNP operator to avoid a monopoly scenario. Reports said the DoT is planning to tweak the MNP guidelines to allow a single company, Syniverse, to roll out its services nationally.

6. Maruti to use high strength steel in its variants by 2012 A move that will reduce the carbon emission by decreasing the weight of vehicles. This high strength steel is used in floor and chassis of the vehicle which also reduces weight of the car by 120 kg. Maruti consumes 6 lakh million tonnes of steel per annum and 50 per cent of it is being imported from Japan and Korea. "Out of the imported 50 per cent of steel, 15-20 per cent accounts for high strength steel.
