Starsoft customers have the option to combine one or more of our business models into a customized
model based on their specific business and technical requirements.


                                       TIME & MATERIAL MODEL

This model is favorable for projects which are in their initial stage of development specifications have not
yet been clearly defined. It is also used by companies with complex projects prone to specification and
design changes during the project.

Project fees are calculated as an hourly rate based on the technical environment and approach, type,
level and the number of technical resources required. All out-of-pocket expenses for software licenses
and other direct project expenditures are reimbursable expenses.




                                 MILESTONE BASED BILLING MODEL

This model is favorable for customers concerned about work effort progress in off-site projects.
Milestones-based payment schedules reinforce progress monitoring and substantiate payment based on
acceptance of specific deliverables. This model is used in conjunction with the Time & Material and
Fixed Price Models.




                            DEDICATED DEVELOPMENT FACILITY MODEL

This model is an extension of the customer's In-house software development activities. The dedicated
facility provides a cost effective solution to customers‟ requiring continuous offshore development and
support activities. This model establishes an off-site development and support activity tailored to the
specific business and technical needs of a customer. Payment is a monthly retainer fee calculated on an
agreed level and size of staffing and service.

All time and effort expended in excess of the monthly agreement is billed at an agreed hourly rate. All
out-of-pocket expenses for software licenses and other direct project expenditures are reimbursable
expenses.

This model is favorable for projects that are specifically defined in terms of their requirements, schedules
and project path. With this model, we work with customers to define their expected deliverable outcomes
to determine a mutually agreed fixed price.




Project fees are calculated on type of the technical environment, level and number of technical
resources required. All out-of-pocket expenses for software licenses and other direct project
expenditures are reimbursable expenses.


                                          ON-DEMAND MODEL

This model is favorable to companies with a desire to establish a dedicated technical team for future
requirements with flexibility to ramp up/down as required. The model provides for the setting-up of the
appropriate infrastructure and core team and training of the required technical resources. Since, the core
team is familiar with company‟s business and processes the ramp-up for an individual project to meet an
unexpected work surge is quick and competent. This model is used in conjunction with the Dedicated
Development Facility, Time & Material and Fixed Price Models.

Starsoft‟s On-Demand Business Model suits various aspects of the business cycle and requirements.
The short-term (less than 3 months), long term (3 to 18 months projects) or strategic term (18 months &
above) are accommodated in the model.

Our Project Management Approach is documented in the Starsoft Project Management Standards &

Plan (PM Standards & Plan).

The PM Standards & Plan is a set of PM best practices used to ensure that customer projects are

conducted within a standardized and structured methodology and plan. It describes the project

management activities for the different project phases and the Starsoft employee roles and

responsibilities responsible for project progress and governance.

The PM Standards & Plan ensures that all customer project tasks are carried out in a professional

manner, thereby enabling us to provide quality, timely delivery of software to our customers.

The PM Standards & Plan is key component of the overall customer Project Management Plan (as

described in the individual customer‟s project Statement of Work (SOW), for the project. The PM

Standards & Plan describes how customer projects will be conducted and managed within the Starsoft

Project Management Methodology.

This document is to be used in conjunction with Starsoft Quality Management Standards & Plan.

Project Management (PM) Objectives

The PM Standard & Plan outlines the standards, approach, methods, and processes for conducting and

managing customer project to ensure the development of quality deliverables that successfully meet the

customer‟s business and technical requirements, project timeframes, and budget.


The objectives of the PM Standard & Plan are as follows


   Preparing and maintaining the Project Plan in a current status for the life of the project

   Ensuring that the strategic, business, and technical approach and environment is appropriate to the

    customer‟s business and technical requirements

   Managing the production of the required deliverables:

    o   Managing Project Version Control

    o   Managing Deliverable Defect Tracking

    o   Testing completed do9cuemnts and software

   Managing the deliverable acceptances and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities

   Managing and creating mitigating actions for success-impact project issues (problems)

   Managing the project control process

   Creating and discussing project status with all stakeholders throughout the complete project life

    cycle

   Obtaining a project close certificate and officially closing down the project

   Preparing a Lessons Learned Report



Quality Management

This Quality Management Standard & Plan (QM Standards & Plan) is a set of best practices used to

ensure that all customer projects are conducted within a total quality environment. This includes

conformance to an acceptable level of quality within software developmental, implementation and

support process. It describes the quality monitoring standards and events for the different project phases

and the specific project roles and responsibilities responsible for these activities.

Starsoft believes that the most important way we achieve optimum quality in customer projects is

through the excellence of our staff as no practice in the world can twist bad work into good.

In summary, Starsoft QM philosophy provides that customer project quality is achieved when the agreed

business value is met, the customer is satisfied, and all tangible documents and software and other

defect are resolved. It is the responsibility of Starsoft Quality Management Consultant to ensure through

our corporate QM standards that the level of quality for customer projects matches or exceeds our

customers' expectations.

The Starsoft QM standards support ISO 9000 and our Quality documentation is based on ISO 2382-1,

ISO 8402, ISO 9001 and ISO 10011-1.


Reference

The Standards & Plan is key component of the overall customer Project Management Plan (as described

in the individual customer‟s project Statement of Work (SOW), for the project. The QM Standards & Plan

describes how quality will be monitored within each customer project.

This document is to be used in conjunction with Starsoft Project Management Standards & Plan.


Our Quality Management (QM) Approach

The QM approach that will be used in performing the proposed tasks and activities and creating the

agreed project deliverables is based on the Principles of Zero Defects as outlined below:


1. Quality is conformance to requirements within a formal QM Standard and Plan Framework.

2. Defect prevention is preferable to quality inspection and correction.

3. Zero Defects is the quality standard.

4. Quality is measured in monetary terms – the Price of Nonconformance (PONC).


The Zero Defects approach provides an assurance that our project structure, methodology and tools,

approach and the consultant work effort required to create the agreed deliverables will be effective and

efficient and that the deliverables will be defect-free when completed and accepted.

Responsibility


It is the joint responsibility of the Starsoft Project Manager, Lead Technical Consultant, and the

Technical Team to work closely with the Quality Management Consultant to ensure that this QM

Standards & Plan is followed as described in this document.


Starsoft Quality Management (QM) Consultant is responsible for performing structured QM monitoring

events of key project tasks with all outcomes documented in QM Monitoring Checklists.


Objectives

The objective of the Starsoft Quality Management Standard & Plan (QM Standards & Plan) is to

establish the baseline against which customer project quality is monitored verifying within customer

projects.

All customer projects are monitored within the Starsoft obligatory and customized QM standards as

outlined below.


Obligatory QM Standards


   Define “quality” in clear, measurable terms for the customer project.


   Produce results that meet agreed quality standards, within project scheduling and budgetary

    activities.


   Provide customers with all features as agreed, and approved in the SOW and the business and

    technical requirements specification baseline.


   Provide the customer zero defects within the delivered software, where a defect shall be defined as

    a verified lack of conformance to requirements, as documented in the SOW and the business and

    technical requirements specification baseline.


   Eliminate costly and non-productive re-work over again to eliminate defects).

Project QM Approach

The Quality Management approach for monitoring, reviewing, and providing feedback for a customer

project includes the below components:


1.    Completeness and correctness of the project infrastructure and the individual project deliverables.


2.    Quality Assurance (QA) activities focus on the project processes used to manage and deliver the

      customer‟s software requirements.

3.    Quality Control (QC) activities performed continually throughout the project lifecycle to verify that

      the project infrastructure and deliverables are of agreed quality standards.


QM Monitoring Tools

QM Monitoring is a regular and necessary activity in the deliverable building process, because error-free

The Project Change Control Plan (as described in the Project PM Standards & Plan) provides a

standardized process for the management of all scope and out-of-scope changes to the customer

project.

Project changes that are included within the plan are described below:


In Scope - project work tasks and deliverables items that were originally included in the approved

project plan scope and documented in the project‟s Statement of Work (SOW).


Out-of-Scope – New project activities and tasks that increase the scope of the project baseline.

Examples include


   A new activity not included in the approved specifications and/or project plan

The project will experience two different types of changes, as outlined below.


Reactive Change: These changes are necessary to respond to specific project problems Examples

requests for changes to project business and / or technical requirements, scope, deliverables or related

   Process to identify and manage changes throughout the entire life of a project - from start to finish

   The goal of the Change Control Plan is not to prevent change, but to control it. This is the essence of

    project change management - to identify, evaluate and adopt changes so that project results are

    enhanced throughout the project.

   Once Change Order requests are processed, reviewed and approved, the corresponding changes

    are incorporated into the project plan. Depending on the specific type of change, one or more

    elements of the project may be affected, and this may necessitate changes to project plans,

    technical designs, resource assignments, budgets or other project documentation.

Requirements Traceability

Requirements traceability is managed through the establishment and maintenance of a Requirements

Traceability Matrix (RTM). The RTM is first established during the first phase and is one of the

deliverables for that stage. The RTM is then updated during each of the subsequent Phases, and

reviewed to ensure that all elements have appropriate linkages (there are no "orphans").

Client:

Our client is a solutions and services provider company based in Canada. They deliver a wide range of
services and solutions, from business critical banking systems to life saving healthcare applications.
With a goal to bring government services to the citizens providing 24x7 conveniences through multi-
channel delivery they are currently serving customers in public and private sectors across Canada and
the US

Need:

The client wanted to provide an application to citizens of counties in USA and Canada through which
they could submit, edit and track a request to get some basic utilities services completed from the
municipality.    They had a web application which provided this facility and they wanted to extend the
facility to mobile users. They wanted to see the response of the residents to the mobile version of the
application and hence they wanted only one module Service Request to be developed under mobile
platform specifically iPhone/iPad platform. Since they did not have an internal expertise on Mobile, they
took the assistance of Starsoft to develop an application.

The need was to develop an iPhone application that allows its users to create new service requests, edit
the request if it is not yet resolved and look at the resolved requests

Challenge:

Some of the main challenges developing this application were:

         Replicating all the features of the web application into a mobile app
         Re-usability of the code i.e., they wanted to use the same code when they wanted to launch the
          app on other platforms
         The Web application was connecting with the CRM to record and display the requests; hence

was taking place in Johannesburg and Cape town every year. The application will feature functionality to
dynamically read and write data to the Whisky Live database.            Such functionality is dependent on
Whiskey Live providing the necessary web services and database exposure where required.

The purpose of the application is to allow the user get interesting information about whiskey and the
Whiskey Live Festival.

The challenge here was to build the app on a cross platform with required features and on a limited time.
Also, to publish this app before the festival so that the users can start using the application.

To address the time limit challenge, it was proposed to develop the app in 3 phased development i.e.,

Our client is a leading telecom service provider for South Africa. As a value added service they provided
an opportunity for their registered users to play the South African National Lottery via cellphone. The

The purpose of this project is to build a Lottery mobile front-end to the web Lotto product with full
functionality to utilise the product on Mobile. The Application needs to take the Lotto Customer interface
as the primary layout and Client Customer Interfaces as secondary. This mobile front-end will need to
provide all the core functionalities, Layouts, navigation elements and process flows and these will be
reviewed and approved by the client.

The application had to work on almost all smart phones that included iPhone, Android and Blackberry
including the tab version.

Client:

The client is a South Africa-based multinational mobile telecommunications company, operating in many
African, European and Middle Eastern countries. They offer voice and data communications products
and services to individuals and businesses. Our client has been supporting various activities and sports
as their strategy to build Brand. In 2005, they launched a web portal dedicated to Football and from then
on they have been sponsoring many prestigious football events in the country.         It offers the most
comprehensive, real time web and mobile coverage of African football and a wide view of football in
Europe and the rest of the world.

The Client wanted to monetise the investment that has been made in web portal to date and to leverage
the position that it has established within the African football community. The intention is to build a
mobile application that will enhance the brand footprint and extend its reach to both the high value
smartphone market globally, and the substantial feature phone market in Africa. They wanted to extend
the portal offering and revenue generating potential to off-net customers and to deliver and bill for value
added services over the top.

The app was required to run on as wide a range of devices as possible, from high end smartphones to
mid-range feature phones. The operating systems that we would like to support are

       Android
       BlackBerry
       iOS :- iPhone and iPad
       Symbian
       Windows Mobile

The other critical need for the application included

       Maintaining live Score Card for different tournaments and games
       Have Local & Push Notification capability to update users with latest news
       Needed Social Media integration
       Business Intelligence reports such as no. of app downloads, no. of logins, time spent, country
        etc.,

Challenge:

Some of the main challenges developing this application were:

       Designing the UI as the application had to provide similar look and feel across multiple devices
        and platforms irrespective of the screen size
       Development of application on lower end devices
       The biggest challenge was being to the application before the AFON 20 13.Phase 1 was
        completed in just 11 days of time period

Solution:

The Starsoft Technical Team proposed a cross platform mobile application using RHO mobile &
PhoneGap to develop the solution that will work on all major mobile operating platforms. This was a
three layered application i.e., Database  Webservices  Mobile Application.

The Starsoft IP policy includes:

Customer - Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs)

To ensure the security and confidentiality of customer information, a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA)
is executed with each customer during our initial meetings.

Our NDA clearly describes the handling of customer information:

       What will be collected from the customer?
       Why will it be collected?
       How will we use it?
       What steps will we take to protect it?
       Whom may it be disclosed and / or shared and the circumstances involved?
       What rights and permissions are required for access and use of the information?

Employee - Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs)

All employees are required to sign individual NDAs. Key points of these NDAs include:

       Employees are restricted from disclosing customer proprietary information directly or indirectly to
        anyone outside the project team or company, or use, copy, publish, summarize or remove such
        information from the company premises
       Employees are restricted from using any unfair competitive practices upon termination of
        employment or engage in any business during employment
       All confidential information received from third parties and customers are held in strictest
        confidence and employees are not allowed to disclose or use it, except as necessary to perform
        his or her obligations as is consistent with third parties.

Project-Related IP Protection

       All projects have dedicated resources. This prevents unauthorized usage of resources and
        protects all customer proprietary information
       There is a restriction of exchanging customer IP between projects
       Project teams dedicated to a particular customer are provided their own secure physical location
        and segment of the LAN

Confidential Document Control

       Access to public email systems is disallowed and floppy, USB and CD disk drives/writers are
        disabled on all desktops. Prior written permission of an authorized executive is required for
        usage of respective drives
       Random checks are made on emails that go out of official mailbox that exceeds permitted size
        (with or without attachments)

Project fees are calculated as an hourly rate based on the technical environment and approach, type, level and the number of technical resources required. All out-of-pocket expenses for software licenses and other direct project expenditures are reimbursable expenses. MILESTONE BASED BILLING MODEL This model is favorable for customers concerned about work effort progress in off-site projects. Milestones-based payment schedules reinforce progress monitoring and substantiate payment based on acceptance of specific deliverables. This model is used in conjunction with the Time & Material and Fixed Price Models. DEDICATED DEVELOPMENT FACILITY MODEL This model is an extension of the customer's In-house software development activities. The dedicated facility provides a cost effective solution to customers‟ requiring continuous offshore development and support activities. This model establishes an off-site development and support activity tailored to the specific business and technical needs of a customer. Payment is a monthly retainer fee calculated on an agreed level and size of staffing and service. All time and effort expended in excess of the monthly agreement is billed at an agreed hourly rate. ON-DEMAND MODEL This model is favorable to companies with a desire to establish a dedicated technical team for future requirements with flexibility to ramp up/down as required. The model provides for the setting-up of the appropriate infrastructure and core team and training of the required technical resources. Since, the core team is familiar with company‟s business and processes the ramp-up for an individual project to meet an unexpected work surge is quick and competent. This model is used in conjunction with the Dedicated Development Facility, Time & Material and Fixed Price Models. Our Quality Management (QM) Approach The QM approach that will be used in performing the proposed tasks and activities and creating the agreed project deliverables is based on the Principles of Zero Defects as outlined below: 1. Quality is conformance to requirements within a formal QM Standard and Plan Framework. 2. Defect prevention is preferable to quality inspection and correction. 3. Zero Defects is the quality standard. 4. Quality is measured in monetary terms – the Price of Nonconformance (PONC). Key points of these NDAs include:  Employees are restricted from disclosing customer proprietary information directly or indirectly to anyone outside the project team or company, or use, copy, publish, summarize or remove such information from the company premises  Employees are restricted from using any unfair competitive practices upon termination of employment or engage in any business during employment  All confidential information received from third parties and customers are held in strictest confidence and employees are not allowed to disclose or use it, except as necessary to perform his or her obligations as is consistent with third parties. Project-Related IP Protection  All projects have dedicated resources. This prevents unauthorized usage of resources and protects all customer proprietary information  There is a restriction of exchanging customer IP between projects  Project teams dedicated to a particular customer are provided their own secure physical location and segment of the LAN Confidential Document Control  Access to public email systems is disallowed and floppy, USB and CD disk drives/writers are disabled on all desktops.
