Originally from Kosovo, Shefqet Avdush Emini came to the Netherlands to escape the war in Kosovo. As an expat artist living abroad, he feels sadder and quieter, emotions that are reflected in his artwork which incorporates vivid colors and layered abstraction. Emini works primarily in oil painting, citing Rembrandt as a local artistic influence, and finds the Dutch art scene supportive though lacking government financial assistance for artists.
