  • 3. SELECTING CORRECT COURSES FOR YOU • SPCC course numbers (0, 1, 2, or 3) tell you the “degree of difficulty” • Do not choose a course for which you are under- or over-qualified - For guidance, talk to the instructor before signing up - The “wrong” course will just frustrate you

  • 5. LEVEL 0 COURSES • The most basic computer courses ̶ For residents who have never used a computer ̶ Also very good for those who want to go back and review the basics ̶ No “Prerequisites” for course entry • Significant time devoted to assisted practice

  • 7. CC 003: COMPUTER COLLEGE PREP SCHOOL – WINDOWS 7 LAPTOPS (LEVEL 0) Richard Nelson – Instructor This is a very basic course for residents who have a new Windows 7 laptop or who are new to laptop computers Fri PM, Oct 5 thru Oct 26 (4 sessions)

  • 26. • More difficult courses for practiced residents who want to increase their skills • Prerequisites include ̶ Completion of After Prep School Basics (Lvl 1) course or equivalent experience ̶ Basic knowledge of computer keyboard ̶ Some typing and mouse skills that include left click and right click, as well as drag and drop ̶ At least elementary knowledge of word processing and the Internet
  • 27. Jim Plummer – Instructor Increase skills in Windows 7 and Office 2010 environment, including programs, formatting & saving documents, use of Internet, and email
  • 28. Dean Traxler – Instructor Learn how to be in command of your computer by using right clicking ̶ an operation you can perform with your mouse
  • 29. Lucille Peterson & Marty Gibson – Instructors Learn to write your memoirs on the computer in a simple, easy to understand way. We will use word processing software & flash drives
  • 30. Larry Brock – Instructor This course introduces Picasa, a free photo editing and organizing application from Google, and the associated Picasa Web Albums
  • 31. Wayne Wolfert – Instructor Publisher consists of useful templates for many projects ̶ cards, calendars, brochures, news- letters, marketing materials, and publications
  • 32. Floyd Jamison – Instructor Speech Recognition listens and responds to your spoken voice. You can use it to run programs and interact with the computer; dictate and edit text
  • 33. Larry Brock – Instructor This course introduces you to Google Maps and how to use it efficiently doing digital mapping, route planning, and locating businesses
