PLANNING AHEAD
This month’s project will include making table tents and wall hangings for the residents of a
nursing home. As the KidzRAP group leader, you will coordinate a time for your group to come
together to make the projects following the guidelines given below. However, you can also
provide another opportunity to serve through the delivery of the projects. The delivery can be as
simple as dropping off your completed projects with the director of the nursing home or it can be
an event that includes a visit with the residents. Some families may only be able to come to your
first event and make the projects, while other families may want to be included in the delivery of
those projects.
Here are some suggestions to begin preparing for your event:
1. Pray. Ask God to direct you to a nursing home that needs your group’s gifts and ask Him
to bring kidz and families to your event.
2. Call and discuss your project with the Activity Director of a local nursing home.
3. Schedule the date of your event and schedule the date for the delivery to the nursing
home.
4. Invite your group to come to your event!
5. Make your advance preparations. See Quilt Wall Hanging Instructions and Table Tent
Instructions.
2. Welcome Activity (10 minutes):
Kidz will work with their families to decorate the Table Tents with foam stickers. (see Table
Tent Templates.) These Table Tents will be given to the nursing home staff to place on the
residents’ food trays. Kidz can begin working on this project while waiting on other families to
arrive. See Table Tent Instructions.
Introduction of Event (15 minutes):
See Teaching Moment Script. The Kidz RAP leader will play the “Kidz RAP Welcome” DVD.
Then the leader will explain to the families who they are going to be helping at this event. Next
the leader thanks everyone for coming and prays for those in need that Kidz RAP is serving.
1st Activity:
Finish Table Tents.
2nd Activity (30-45 minutes):
Make Quilt Wall Hanging. Kidz will glue the wrapping paper squares and verses and tie ribbon
to make wall hanging. See Quilt Wall Hanging Instructions.
Closing of Event:
Send families home with a Kidz RAP Bookmark as a “thank you” for coming, and ask them to
mark their calendar for your next event!
