Currently a senior consultant with educational consulting firm Focal Point, LLC, Dr. Shirley Miles has held several leadership positions over the course of her long career in education. She served as the superintendent of schools for the Tempe Union High School District in Arizona and the director of human resources for Academy School District 20 in Colorado. She also has instructed students as a high-school teacher and an adjunct professor at the University of Colorado. Before joining Focal Point in 2011, Dr. Shirley Miles was the director of the Department of Defense Education Activity, a global preK-12 school system educating 85,000 students in 14 different school districts.
