4 Humanoid robot:
It is body shape build to
resemble the human body .In
general these have a
torso,two legs,two
arms,head.Thus, it appears
and behaves like human.

HISTORY 6
Karel capek coined
the term “robot”
1921
After 1970 humanoid robots came into
evolution
Waseda university first time created a
Humanoid Robot in 1970(WABOT-1),and in
1980 WABOT-2
Then, ASIMO-Honda’s heavy hitter
ROBONAUT by NASA
7
 WABOT-1: It can communicate in
Japanese,can give directions,find
objects,artificial ears ,mouth,eyes
 WABOT-2: Play’s keyboard,can read
sheet music and play it
 ASIMO: can go upstairs, run’s
6kh/hr, play soccer, carry 1kg wt
 ROBONAUT: wheel chaired, can
carry 15kg wt, can work as
colleague
8
Why Development????
 1985-Hitachi’s WHL-11
 1986-1991-Honda’s E series
 1989-Pacific Northwest laboratories Manny
 Present Day-Honda,Hitachi,Military Institutions,
NASA are competing in Robot development
9
Because it is a dream of generations
Human Evolution v/s
Humanoid evolution
10
Humanoid Evolution
 Nowadays, humanoid robot researchers are
focusing on bipedism more than they do in
cognition
 Stable and robust bipedal locomotion is still a
good lab example
 It is mandatory for researchers to have cognition
for robots
 We are in the pre-robotic era compared with the
human evolution
 In present days ASIMO and PETMAN are more
competent robots
11
Advantages
 Robots look like human
 …..are stronger,tough
 …...do not complain
 ……cannot be exhausted
 …….Cool
12
Disadvantages
 Robots are not well developed
 ……..have no emotions
 ……Incredibly hard to implement
 …..cannot be trusted
 ……terrible at performable tasks
13
APPLICATIONS 14
15
conclusion…..
 Finally, as the
technology
improves, there will
be new ways to use
robots which will
bring new hopes
and new potential.
16
17
Thus I conclude……
“HUMUNOID ROBOTS ARE LIKE HUMANS
WITH SOME DEFECTS”
